New ObamaCare repeal bill on life support
The Hill ^ | Apr. 27, 2017 | Scott Wong

The tide is quickly turning against the new ObamaCare repeal legislation. At least 21 Republicans have said they would vote no on the revised GOP healthcare bill negotiated by centrist Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-N.J.) and conservative Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.).

Those "no" votes include Reps. Patrick Meehan (Pa.), Ryan Costello (Pa.), Barbara Comstock (R-Va.), Jaime Herrera Beutler (Wash.) and John Katko (N.Y.), all centrists who had reservations about the previous ObamaCare repeal bill that was pulled from a floor vote last month because of a lack of GOP support.

Because the democrats are true believers and the GOP are a bunch of phonies. That’s why I stopped voting-—the GOP NEVER does what they say they’re going to do and the democrats ALWAYS do what they say they’re going to do.

We let another entitlement out of the bag. That toothpaste will not go back in the tube. You will always have some sob story paraded out there of where someone with zillion $ a year cancer lost their coverage.

That is why it will never get repealed and we can never go back to how it used to be.

Healthcare is officially broken and only two options as I see it is a total collapse or Govt bail out that will bankrupt what is left of the nation.

Meanwhile I cannot afford to get my knee fixed even with insurance, oh but I am insured.

The thing that makes me the most mad is you work to help the GOP get control of the Govt to try and stop the slide Left, and the insane spending on hand out social programs that do not include me that really buy votes and make people depend on Govt and then the GOP can’t get its own ducks in order to pass anything good or bad.

Now what happens on Tax Cuts? Same BS. It will be labeled as tax cut for rich because that is what Trump is. Class warfare all over again and the GOP won’t be able to unite around this either. We will lose the house and senate in two years, Trump will be completely stopped and some new Dem socialist dope gets elected in 2020.

I feel like a stranger in my own country. I didn’t leave America, it is like America left me.

The GOP and Pres. Trump PROMISED to repeal
GOP-created RomneyCARE/ObamaCARE which
will shortly be TRUMPCARE if Gorelick/Ryan get their way.

There's no need to repeal ObamaCare. It can be effectively repealed without any action by Congress through the following simple approach:

1. An insurance company should develop a medical insurance plan that meets the legal requirements of one or more states but doesn't meet any of the most onerous and expensive requirements of ObamaCare.

2. One or more states can authorize the sale of this insurance plan within their borders.

3. The Trump administration can either issue an ObamaCare waiver for that plan, or it can simply do nothing.

Once people in one or more states enjoy their new insurance plans with lower premiums and/or lower deductibles, there's no way in hell anyone in Congress -- or even a future administration -- is going to have the balls to do anything about it. And there will be an enormous wave of political pressure from people in other states to get access to their own "non-compliant" insurance plans.

As Trump repeated again and again during campaign, the GOPe are all talk and no action. During Obama regime, they relaxed in comfort knowing full well Obama would veto the repeal bill. Now their vote has real meaning because POTUS Trump will sign the bill, and the phony hypocrites in republican party do not want repeal.

We let another entitlement out of the bag. That toothpaste will not go back in the tube.

I believe this case is different. Entitlements like Medicare and Social Security can never be eliminated because their current cost for any individual is relatively low -- and because everyone can envision a scenario where they are old, retired, and beneficiaries of these two programs.

ObamaCare is a whole different animal. The cost up front is enormous, and people who pay a fortune in premiums don't get any benefit from them.

They’re going to lose the house count on it.

They are throwing the fight. Ryan and Co. don't care if they lose the House (or Senate, probably) because they are cucks or they actually agree with Democrats. It may well be time to blow up the GOP and start over.

Go back to the last one that had unanimous support. Oh, that’s right, they knew it would not get signed by the president. Trump should ask them for that last one and see them squirm.

I knew this would happen. Make the HFC happy, and now the squishy
“centrists” will bail.
*****************************************
The “centrists” (also known as RINOs and Tuesday Group members) won’t “bail” -— they were NEVER on board the repeal airplane to begin with. They tried to blame the Freedom Caucus for the failure of Obamacare repeal and almost succeeded. But WE NOW KNOW WHO IS STANDING IN THE WAY OF REPEAL.

The option of the GOP is repeal the Obamacare act or nobody will ever trust them on any campaign promise ever again.

You can’t spent 6 years and 3 elections campaigning to repeal a bill only to fail to do it upon actually winning control of all the necessary parties.

Theses RINO’s need to be kicked out of the party and told they will never receive a dime of Party support in relection if they don’t get bind the party’s plege.

That way at least the Republican party can claim to have voted to keep their word, and that the Opposition parties, to include these RINO’s vetoed.

Cannot be done.

Nonsense. Not one penny can be expended by this government unless it has been appropriated by the U.S. House of Representatives.

The Republicans have had the power to repeal Obamacare since they took control of the House in 2011.

That is the simple fact. Everything else is just political theater.

If they can pass a full repeal in 2015 they can pass it today.

All those RINO’s who voted for full repeal in 2015 and not voting for full repeal today are lying hypocrites.

Everyone else needs to be kicked out of the party for the sake of the party, as nobody will trust anything the party campaigns on if they don’t keep the one thing the’ve campaigned to do for the last 6 years dispute having a majority support in both houses and the presidency to do it.

This bill (once again) did not sound so great..

Potential loss of coverage for pre-existing conditions for those states that chose to go that route. (Should people be forced to move out of their homes to another state just because their state chose to no longer enforce coverage for pre-existing conditions?)

Ability for insurers to charge “older” people even MORE than the $18-20K / yr with $6K deductibles they are already suffering under (I know..I checked the rates) Obambicare says they can charge “older” up to 3X more than “younger”. The “improved” plan allowed 5X. No thanks.

Gee..why wouldn’t anyone want to vote for THAT?

I hated Obambicare with the fire of a thousand suns when it came out and still do, but it is FAR BETTER THAN ANYTHING THE REPUBS HAVE PUT ON THE TABLE.

Anything short of full repeal is DOA IMHO. I’d support full repeal, but all we have seen so far is a bunch of bought and paid for politicians trying to find ways to give the insurance companies even MORE of our hard earned $s.

Be nice if they created a plan that actually would HELP the American people, which neither of the last two plans from Wiley Coyote Super Genius / Evil Genius Paulie Ryan has done.

Some advice for the RINO’s in Congress. You were able to get a bill to Obama’s desk because you knew it was a fiction. Do your fiction again. Pass a complete repeal and let it get to the Senate where it will be stopped by a RAT filibusterer. You get credit and Republicans get an issue that will give them a super-majority in the Senate after 2018.

Several of theses RINO’s such as Patrick Meehan (Pa.) are already on record for having voted for a straight repeal of Obamacare. That they vote against it now simply means they are corrupt liers who are not interested in carting out their campaign promises.

They should be warned and Called out as hypocrites each and every one of them by name. The american people deserve to know if their politicans are backstabbing lairs, who never really supported the cause they campained upon.

Several things wrong with Obamacare 2.1:

- obamacare remains. It is not a repeal, as was promised in the campaign and passed by two prior congresses.

- it dumps the hard decision making to the state governors; a cowardly way of dealing with the pre-existings and the community ratings.

- does nothing about buying across state lines.

We need to keep a list of the Rinos to target in 2018 and we need to get started identifying one viable replacement in each of their states to support, and begin now.

Great idea. This may be one of the only practical options left open to President Trump at this point.

With the House Freedom Caucus having swallowed some pride, got some concessions, and climbed on board with this bill, now we're going to see squishy GOPe "centrists" torpedo it?

This is ridiculous. Every liberal GOPe Republican refusing to vote for this bill—because it's "too extreme" or "too far right" or "not socialist enough"—should be aggressively targeted by the President for replacement. Hopefully then we can elect a GOP majority in 2018 that will act on the President's agenda of Obamacare "repeal & replace", instead of acting like a bunch of Democrats trying to save Obamacare.

I would enjoy nothing more than to see these GOPe squishes get replaced. It's time to increase the Revolutionary blood in Congress.

If this new effort fails, Paul Ryan will have squandered a golden opportunity, and he should step down in lieu of someone who can lead the GOP majority as an effective Speaker.

And, by the way, where's the majority Whip? Can't he do his job? If he can't bring home these votes for the President, he should be replaced as well.

Enough is enough. Congress needs to pass this bill that the House Freedom Caucus—after hard-fought modifications—has acquiesced to.

Exactly right. Even here on FR we have people still blaming the Freedom Caucus when the reality is the first attempt at rearrange and repair did not have the support of the liberal Republicans, but Trump singled out the Freedom Caucus for blame.
