Dems say Trump can avert shutdown risk if he relents on wall

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump could avert the risk of a government shutdown next weekend by stepping back from his demand that lawmakers fund his promised border wall with Mexico in a must-pass spending bill, Congress’ two top Democrats said Monday.

“If the president stepped out of it, we could get a budget done by Friday,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said Monday in a conference call with reporters, referring to Democratic and Republican budget negotiators.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., agreed. She said that while Trump had promised during his campaign to build the barrier, “He did not promise that he would take food out of the mouths of babies” and cut programs for seniors, education and the environment to pay for it. She called the wall an “immoral, ineffective, unwise proposal.”

Fine. I hope even those Republicans who oppose the wall and oppose enforcing the law meet an MS13 gang invasion or car jacking.

It would be a good opportunity for nonessential feral featherbeds to go out and find real jobs—like the rest of us.
Like coal shoveling union deadheads placed on diesel engines, or the artilleryman kept in place to hold the horses reins, if a drone isn’t really needed, make them a `welcome to the party’ offer. (It’s not optional and it’s really a RIF.)

It is the Senate’s non-Constitutional “fillibuster rule” that gives the Democrats their apparent “power” to obstruct.

IMHO, it is time to “nuke” that non-Constituional rule — since that rule never contemplated that Senators would be SO easily bought by special interest money.

When GOP did this to Obama the press blamed GOP. When Rats do this to Trump they will blame Trump. But Trump can take to twitter and call them all out.

Let the rats shut it down. Also Trump should make it clear that he will not pay back workers that didn’t work. They will need to take vacation or go without the $$$. Blame the rats for it.

Who cares what the media says? No one watches them any more, no one believes them any more. The media has little power and it is diminishing daily.

How would the government be shut down with Republicans in the majority? If the islamists and their facilitators don’t want to participate in governance, then move without them.

The problem is that GOPe doesn't want to participate in governance. It's messy and you have to deal with the hoi polloi. It's so nice just taking your cut, having a drink in your club and dinner at fancy restaurants with your lobbiests.

Two words that solve the whole problem. “Budget Reconciliation” This is what it was actually designed for.

Alternately, Republicans could apply the Nuke Option to budgets too, and pass a budget without Dem input.

You know the Dems would do that in a heartbeat if the positions were reversed.

Second, if Trump stands firm, and the Dems shut down the Federal Government, Trumps support will go up.

Do the Dems really want to find out what Trump will shut off, now that he has Gorsuch on the Supreme Court?

“He did not promise that he would take food out of the mouths of babies” and cut programs for seniors, education and the environment to pay for it.

What year did the Democrats put this same ol Shiite in their playbook? It so tiresome.

Someone needs to remind Sen. McCain that without border security there is no national security.

I wish Trump would start doing things by Executive Order, just to circumvent Schumer.
