Mr Macron has been dubbed “chou-chou” (teacher’s pet) by French media because of his unusual relationship.
The 39-year-old is married to Brigitte Trogneux, a glamorous blonde who as well as being 24 years older than him, was also his high school drama teacher.
They first met when he was 15 years old and she was a 40-year-old married mother-of-three.
“He wasn’t like the others,” Brigitte told a French documentary last year, “he wasn’t a teenager. He had a relationship of equals with other adults.” Related articles

At 17, Mr Macron’s parents sent him to Paris to continue his studies after learning about his relationship with Brigitte.
His mother spoke to Anna Fulda, author of the book Emmanuel Macron: A Perfect Young Man and revealed that she initially thought that her son was interested in Brigitte’s daughter Laurence, who was one of his classmates.
“We couldn’t believe it. What is clear is that when Emmanuel met Brigitte we couldn’t just say ‘that’s great’,” she said.
Mrs Macron reportedly told Brigitte: “Don’t you see. You’ve had your life. But he won’t have children with you.”

The couple have not revealed at which point their relationship became romantic.
Brigitte, 64, is quoted in the book as saying: “Nobody will ever know at what moment our story became a love story. That belongs to us. That is our secret.”
What is known is that by the time Mr Macron left his hometown for Paris, he had already vowed to marry Brigitte.
After he had moved, the couple would “call each other all the time and spend hours on the phone”, Brigitte said.
“Bit by bit, he defeated all my resistance, in an amazing way, with patience.”

Not convincing. Just a regular peck on the cheek and he doesn’t even kiss HER. Big deal.
This relationship explains in part his popularity. All those French women over 40 must love him.
The article refers to her as a “gorgeous blonde”. Uh, no. And that’s only 64? She looks 84.
Not even that attractive. At least not that I can tell from the many photos.
But regardless, eww. I just don’t get people so far displaced from their spouses in age. Especially today when it truly is their choice. Yikes. So impractical - different cultural experiences completely, kids your own age, likely to be worn out/sick/dead when you’re still pretty young.
I would prefer to be a bit in sync with my spouse. My rule was +/- 5yrs, that’s it. Got lucky after waiting so long that I could get someone in the range w/o baggage.
My error: It says “glamorous blonde” not “gorgeous blonde”. (But my comment stands.)

Perhaps because I’m closer to her age than others in this post but I believe she is very attractive for her age, however.....
This has got to be weird even for French people. Not just the age difference which is weird enough, but the fact that she was his teacher. That’s what really makes it weird. And yes Ladies, when I see a dude who has a flashy hot blonde on his arm who is 25 years his junior, I think the same thing. On top of that, I think gold digger....
It will be interesting to see if this has any role in the political race to come.

Mostly you see this the other way around, right? The old dude with the young hot chick. I’ve always wondered why. I mean, in a relationship, sex is only one very small part of it. After the sex is over, exactly what could you have in common with someone 25 years your junior? Not enough to have a lasting relationship with IMHO. That’s just me, perhaps there are those out there who would disagree.
Me and my wife, we grew up at the same time, know the same people, got our worldview shaped through the same events. I just don’t see how I could relate on an intimate level with someone who is my kids age.
