Lafayette should have stayed. He tried but failed to set the French Revolution on a sensible course.
A good man but not a great politician.

centrist independent Emmanuel Macron.

Translate: gutless, mealy-mouthed chickens--t tool who will do nothing to imperil himself politically nor the great financial windfall awaiting him down the road.

Think Paul Ryan.

And there is a clear choice:
* Woman who says let’s deport these people who are rioting and killing us
* Guy who says “Oh, get used to it, and you’re bad if you complain about it”

“Far Right”?

What makes her that?

She has a keen sense of self preservation.

That's what the "expert" analysis says.

Le Pen came in with 22% today and Macron is just under 24%.

Nope, she doesn't have a chance.

Far Right? Maybe to the Far Left she might look “far right.” To the rest of us, Marine Le Pen simply looks “Right.”

Did Obama phone another candidate before or after this election?

Why are people saying it’ll be hard for her to defeat Macron? Aren’t the French tired of the status quo?

Some quick googling turned up a blurb at the Guardian saying the estimates are historically accurate to within about one percentage point. They’re based on samples from a large set of polling stations that is considered to be representative of the country. But it also says their method uses some weighting and extrapolating based on past results, so I guess we’ll see.

“Did Obama phone another candidate before or after this election?”

He did! lol... Obama phoned Macron on Wed.

BTW: Not since 1958 have the 2 main political parties been excluded from the 2nd election. This year, the runoff election will be held on May 7th -— just 2 weeks away.

It has to do with French government workers and socialists, if for instance it was Le Pen and Fillon in the runoff, the socialist would either go for Le Pen (not a huge likelihood but possible since she is not campaigning on cutting government) or stay home because they detest Fillon. As it appears now, Le Pen vs Macron does not put the socialists largely out of play, since they will likely vote for Macron.

That’s the rationale I’ve been seeing.
