Friends, countrymen, non-billionaires, lend me your ears; I come not to praise Bernie Sanders, but not exactly to bury him, either. Last night, the man who lost to Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Democratic primary offered this class-warfare musing on the consumption needs of the very wealthy:

You don’t necessarily need a choice of 23 underarm spray deodorants or of 18 different pairs of sneakers when children are hungry in this country...
Bernie is like other inequality patriots such as Warren Buffet who feel so terrible about the amount of $$$ they have and that the government allows them to have it, that every day they beg the government to raise our taxes to make it fairer.
And forget carbon fuels.
Tell you what, Bernie, how about you dedicate your senate salary and retirement benefits to a worthy charity who will actually go out and feed hungry people rather than running around on the public dime demanding that everyone else pay for your pet projects?

How about breakfast cereals?
I once counted the number of kinds of different breakfast cereals at a local grocery store.
There were over _three_hundred_. (Including different box sizes of the same stuff.)
I’ve heard of Communist escapees having a breakdown in the cereal aisle upon seeing such a mind-numbing range of options, vs having been raised happy if there was _any_ available.
Why so many available?
Because people DO discern a difference, and want them.
People choose their breakfast cereal as they see fit, and not as an oligarchy dictating blindly to people they don’t know.
Nobody has a natural right to compel, under threat of police-imposed harm, strangers to eat a particular cereal delivered in particular packaging.
That cereal constitutes the essence of “wealth”: one standard-sized box contains enough calories to keep you alive for one day. That wealth is also fragile: it doesn’t last forever, and is easily destroyed; when you eat it, that tangible manifestation of wealth is converted into energy - which if not used productively, that energy dissipates in 24 hours.
Considering that said energy, from a mere $2-4 box of prepared grains, can be used to produce dozens or hundreds of dollars of value in that energy-dissipation period, I’d say the person consuming it absolutely has final say in which of >300 variations they choose to acquire that energy in.
That said, deodorant isn’t quite so compelling as breakfast cereal from a productivity standpoint, but still one’s choice in _how_ body odor is suppressed plays a fair role in personal productivity. Not quite so many brands available, but still the choice (and choice of consequences) lies in the one using it, not in the uninformed delusions of an aging wannabe-dictator who still hasn’t figured out how to use a comb.
Bernie is just another limousine liberal like all of the rest
