An author I greatly enjoyed as a youth was William Saroyan and “My Name is Aram” in particular. Of course Saroyan was both an Armenian American and a Californian.

My daughter has an Armenian friend and I met and talked to his parents at a Christmas party a few years ago. The father started talking about the Muslims breaking into their homes and killing everyone. Such was the fate of his brother and his wife and children. Poor man broke down crying as he was telling me the story. They had escaped to Russia then immigrated to United states some years later.
