It shattered coaches and set cars on fire, leaving a trail of bodies including children, as the convoy waited in rebel territory near Aleppo.

Russian troops have reportedly moved to shield rebel evacuees from retaliation.

Thousands of evacuees from both sides of Syria's civil war have been stuck in hostile territory since Friday.

Evacuees from an Assad controlled towns were being evacuated when a suicide bomber attacked and killed dozens today.

Russian troops moved in to protect people who are anti-Assad and being evacuated from other towns from retaliation.

Oh how bad those Russians are. Sarcasm dripping.

Iran which supports Assad and Qatar which supports the Al Qaeda forces fighting Assad brokered the deal.

...including children...

Yes, there are people, and then there are children. Thanks for making the distinction, BBC!

sooooooo, 39 dead syrian refugees? Win-win; 39 dead parasites that would have been sent to the US or Europe. And guarantee, there aren’t any Christians being evacuated, so that tells me 39 dead rop’rs...win-win

We spend millions to drop a huge bomb that kills 36. ISIS build a car bomb and kiss three more.

Something seems off.

The 'millions' cost of the MOAB has been debunked. More like $130,000. But no real certainty.

I’m sure the folks at the BBC also have another category besides those two and that’s as the English spell it “foetuses” which are less than “people” any day of the week in their minds.

I think a lot of the Syrians are being warehoused in Turkey right now after their government led by Islamist Erdogan was given several billion dollars by the EU, so I guess Turkey will not be hosting them.

MOAB: 94 and counting - difficult to count jellified and pulverized corpses not to mention the ones that were vaporized on detonation.

1. Bomb cost much less than million. 2. The 100 Isis killed were in caves while the innocent civilians were on unprotected busses.

The MOAB itself cost ~170,000 originally. We have, iirc, 13 of them, and they’re nearing the end of their shelf-life.

The ISIS death toll has been raised to 94. Expect it to go higher, as the area is investigated.

Don’t discount the psychological effects. They say the bomb is like an earthquake. Does ISIS know we have 13 more that need to be used soon?

Finally, four ISIS commanders died. That’s always helpful.

Last count was 94 and like the reason for dropping the bomb the price of one is over stated. Bombs are for killing people AND destroying things of importance to the enemy.

Ignorance, and also in your case misinformation is bliss..

BBC is hoping it will be confused with the other “huge bomb” by those who only glance at headlines.

I’m wondering if it isn’t all tied together. Is ISIS suffering a lot of losses and getting desperate? This and the reported use by them of chemical weapons in Mosul are not things ISIS can blame on anyone else.

Well trying to sort out the players here
The “ rebel fighters” are al qaeda sunni who have been holding hostage the town of Madaya and another village
The evacuation was supposed to get pro Assad civilians and noncombatants out of there and into a govt controlled safe zone near Aleppo

The people being sent to Idlib are anti assad fighters ISIS) being given safe passage to Idlib in exchange for those civilians

The people who blew up the buses ( ISIS?) accused Assad of evacuating pro regime fighters from Madaya among the civilians

They used a suicide bomb in a vehicle disguised to look like relief aid
Russia is protecting the bad guys - prob IS and not their allies - to prevent a full, blown bloody retaliation and try to keep this exchange program on track

Al Qaeda and ISIS has either prevented relief aid from reaching the civilians of Madaya and other pro govt occupied villages or seized it for their own fighters and for the black market

Thus the BBC and Guardian and the Western media have accused “ murdering butcher tyrant Assad’ of “ starving his own people”

Obviously this is why we the U.S. need to violently remove the evil Assad , neutralize Russia and Iran military, and insert our troops to oversee the situation as we turn over SYRIA to Al Qaeda ISIS Assad defectors tribal militia and Kurds to govern amicably in a democratic election ( snort)
/Sarc

The reporting (deliberately?) doesn’t make it clear, but I read this as follows:

The towns of Foah, Kefraya and Rashidin (where the attack took place) are mostly Shia Muslims, and are government-held and under siege by rebels (al Qaeda / Sunni Muslim). The deal was to let civilians out of the towns, through rebel lines, out into another safer government-held area.

In return, a similar move the other way was to have taken place from two rebel towns, Madaya and Zabadani, under siege by the government.

The rebels decided to blow up the Shia refugees instead?

But I suppose that’s “allowed” as long as they don’t gas them?

I think we’re up to 90 dead from MOAB—no civilians. Not that I would have cared, but the Left always goes berserk over the possibility.

But MOAB was about so much more than just one bombing incident.
