Vanity: Who is the United Airlines Passenger? Is he really a Doctor?

Posted on 04/11/2017 7:29:42 AM PDT by narses

The media seems to be ignoring this question, why? Where is the report on who he really is?

How can his constitutional rights be violated when he's sitting on a passenger jet that is: (1) owned by someone else, and (2) operated under terms and conditions that are spelled out very clearly on his ticket.

As someone else pointed out ... Why did three of the four people who were bumped from the flight get off without a problem?

The airline pretty much did what you suggested. Three of the four affected passengers took the offer and left without getting dragged off the plane.

How was there a violation of rights? Be specific please. Bear in mind, the “doctor” violated the law, very clearly. On camera.

I wonder if this is United sendung a message to customers: Shut up and take it...or else.

The airline was *NOT* using cash. They were offering essentially worthless travel vouchers. Big, big, big difference between the two.

Wouldn't matter to me if he were a guy on welfare.

Why does it matter to you?

and why is his business more important than everyone else who is on the plane ?

It is not but when we triage we give weight to what is lost by any individual or to others dependent on them.

why is it important that he is neatly dressed or an elderly Asian male ?

In the greater scheme of things it doesn't matter but when assessing someone as a threat who needs to be removed by stormtroopers, elderly, neatly dressed Asian males are not high on my threat list. They fall into the category where a little courtesy goes a long way.

Seems like someone has an agenda to deflect blame from United by smearing the victim. Trolls & their ways...

The man was concussed. Blood was running from his nose & mouth and they dragged him down the aisle unconscious. He came to and staggered back on the plane muttering I have to go home...just kill me...So he’s an idiot? Got it.
Makes you feel important to put him down until its your elderly father who doesn’t hear so well and that’s misunderstood as being argumentative and it happens to him.

The same situation is happening all the time with TSA. American men, women, children, disabled, medically challenged people humiliated and manhandled by thugs using rules created by an unthinking bureaucracy on steroids purporting to keep people safe. These yobbos want to feel powerful and act out their frustrations by humiliating and controlling. These “rules” fail to uncover any number of agents, guns, knives & substances every day and in fact in my reading have never uncovered a single actual threat.

But this way we don’t profile.....A whole class of people have arisen who use labyrinthine rules to act in any way that suits them and the heck with the rest of the human race.

They didn’t. The third was his wife.
There is nothing to suggest that he yelled or berated them. He and his wife offered to volunteer at first but then were told that the next flight wasn’t until 4:30p on the next day. That is when he said he couldn’t because he had patients the next morning.

I watched the video. It starts with him being dragged down the aisle bleeding from his nose & mouth & dazed. Someone is screaming look what you’re doing to him, someone else says this is wrong. So be specific what law did he violate on camera?

Dude — Chicago is four hours away from Louisville by car. When you factor in the time you spend at the airport, the manhandling by TSA, and the fifth-rate travel experience when you’re jammed into the coach section, it’s a wonder why ANYONE would take that flight.

I got to agree with you on that one. We don’t fly for less than a 6 hr drive.
After TSA started I don’t fly much at all. Who wants to be in the situation where because they pull out every 10th person I can be strip searched or go to jail.

Huh ? you get to use both sides of your own assertion\question ?
You get to dress him up but somebody is wrong for dressing him down ?

Sorry. I didn't realize it wasn't just logic, but your logic.

greatest good for the greatest number.
got it.

some pigs are more equal than other pigs, especially if they are dressed well.
got it.

Threat ? What threat ?
Those who were to be removed were randomly picked. Not by how they were dressed.
He refused to go. Security didn't say, “Oh, you are nicely dressed, nevermind”.

This whole situation was poorly handled.
What he did or didn't did, what he does for a living or what he looks like or what's his history is immaterial.

I have two rules of thumb when it comes to airline travel:

1. When traveling for business, I'll drive to any destination I can reach within one day (typically 15+ hours for me).

2. When traveling for vacation, I'll drive to any destination I can reach on a paved road.

It sure saves a lot of grief.

The controversy is because some people want to pretend that rules are God.
There would have been others on that plane who, for cash, would have given up their seat. But since the airline had rules to hide behind they didn’t go to the trouble. You are arguing about rules, I am arguing about common sense, common decency, good business practice, protecting a brand and proportionality.

Thank you for the link. I am well aware of that code but it is not relevant except by granting very wide latitude.

Its sad that rules made to protect us all are being used to intimidate people and turn air attendants into tin gods. Its sad that those rules are used as an excuse not to actually provide customer service or common decency.

I have flown a lot and 99% of interactions with TSA have been totally pleasant. Aside from a few bad apples, these people are actually keeping all of us safe from our Religion of Peace neighbors. Purporting?
