Yes, Republic (and other regional carriers) serve a variety of larger carriers. But when they do, they “brand” the aircraft with that carrier’s colors and badging, and are suppose to follow that airline’s rules and regulations (particularly the carriage contract between said carrier and the passenger).

In this case, they did NOT follow their own rules/contract.

Maybe so - but that isn’t what the contract between the carrier (United) and the passenger says.

involuntary denied boarding will be implemented.

Therein lies the rub - this wasn't a case of involuntary denial of boarding - this was a boarded passenger who had already settled in.

Also - I keep hearing the term "random" thrown about - yet that isn't the case either - according to United's own policy. Certain classes of passengers are not bumped, ever. And depending on who from United you believe - it was either random (not according to policy), or they revert to last-booked in the lowest class/fare.

And lest we forget in the distraction that some are trying to make over this Dr's past, United could have solved this and/or prevented this through a variety of means already in their rules and policy. They didn't, then they skirted policy.

And as to the passenger getting belligerent - I haven't seen video evidence of that yet - he became agitated and loud when they began their violent attack on him.

Say what? United threw their own policies and the contract between passenger and carrier out the window when they allowed him to board the plane then demanded he leave the plane. Their policy is to DENY BOARDING, not to remove passengers.

Now - have they removed passengers before? Probably. But that, again, is in violation of their contract.

United’s own Contract of Carriage - Rule 25

“Denied boarding” is the key term.

And there is a bit more to this as well -
