With the direction of the Trump admin, the Dems are headed toward retaking the House in 2018—and then all hell will break loose.

How much do you want to bet that doesn't happen?

It's all about the economy and economy is getting better. It will get even better if tax cuts are passed.

Stop being negative jackass. It's annoying.

The economy and the stock market have been doing well based on expectations of Trump fulfilling his campaign promises.

But there’s gonna be some rough adjusting there if Trump continues with his leftward shift. If Trump’s base isn’t energized for 2018, the House will go very easily—and Trump has already shown his interest in trashing the Freedom Caucus.

I guess more jobs in an improved business climate, domestic manufacturing expansion, greater general prosperity, less illegal immigration, the start of a southern wall, and a strengthened military, all more likely in the direction we're heading, won't matter.

We’ve got a WH contemplating a carbon tax, with Democrats in at Treasury and as CEA, that is likely to cement a big new entitlement with Obamacare 2.1, likewise wants a big childcare entitlement for parents making p to $300K per year, showing signs of getting sucked further into the Middle East, is shipping out illegals at a slower rate than the Obama admin, is backing off claims of building an actual wall along much of the border, had new hires drop under 100K in March, which is going backward statistically, and signalling a major move to the left.

Other than that, I’d say the 2018 elections would be looking pretty good.

LOL

This past week all the democrats thought the mayor of Bolingbrook, IL would lose to the Durbin/Duckworth/Pfizer supported democrat nominee.

Well guess what? Trump won again.

Well. It is true that the party in the White House loses seats in the midterm elections. It is unusual when the party in the WH does not lose seats such as 2002.

The outside party is often energized for hundreds of reasons (hatred is just one) and the party in the WH is often satisfied, so they don't go to vote, or they are mad that Trump isn't doing exactly what he says he was going to do and so in a fit of anger, do not vote.

Considering the nonstop 24/7 negative news coverage and since most people now think Russia interfered with the election, the repubs will lose one of those two seats.

So I take it you think this is a positive direction:

Republicans are vulnerable now because they look foolish. How many times did they vote to repeal Obamacare when they knew it would be vetoed? We saw that the majority of HOR 'pubs are disgusting backstabbers who want to keep Obamacare. Then there's the foreign policy situation. Trump's way too close to wading in the globalist swamp and regime change. And now it's looking like the wall might be stalled. And keep in mind that voters across the spectrum didn't want either dynasty, Bush or Clinton. So why are Jared/Ivanka acting out-of-control dynastic?

All the things you list will help. But messing up on the things I've listed leave an opening for new talent to emerge for the dems.

Oh. Come. ON.

It’s over a year until any election and until anyone cares.

Dems are running the narrative of upset alerts in GA and KS.

In GA polling seems to show a close race for the certain runoff but I don’t know if there is anything to back it up in KS. Dems making an effort and GOP responding in kind (and why not, no other elections going on) doesn’t mean it will be that close.

They are also talking up their “folksy” douchebag Bob Roberts style candidate who surprisingly took their nomination in Montana, but seem to have less hope there.

GA (seat close in the Presidential election) is the only one I’m worried about. I could have done without any House members being named to the cabinet though, especially Zinke who was geared to run for the Senate in Montana.

I have trouble seeing the rats taking the House next year but Trump’s numbers being in the toilet would be the #1 prerequisite for that nightmarish scenario. I think if he’s at mid-40s or better it takes it off the table.

Let me add another thought. You asked the poster to stop being a negative jackass and I ask you to stop being a jackass Pollyanna.

We don't know if the economy is getting better. The jobs report was a downer and I might mention that not only was the jobs report way below expectations, the prior three months jobs reports were adjusted downward. Car owners have the highest percentage of over 90 days of nonpayment since 2008. I am not aware of a 1st quarter GDP report, so we don't know.

The stock market is not the economy and the Fed is raising interest rates for the first time in 8 years. They have now raised them twice and will be raising them regularly according to their notes. Of course, this causes interest on the debt to increase and our deficit to increase. The Fed raises interest rates only when Repubs are in office. It appears this is their current mo.

" if Trump continues with his leftward shift."

You should stick with just lurking. Trump is getting things done, in the right direction for once...if you haven't noticed.

I agree. Getting really tired of Nick Carraway posting all this anti-Trump stuff. The Hill is as vile as the Washington ComPost or New York Slimes. But he keeps posting this kind of crap.

Take this, you have gone on unhinged as if the sky is falling, based on rumor upon rumor... as if only you can ‘save’ us. I went out and pulled weeds today, because of the mass confusion, based upon unnamed sources spreading unsubstantiated six tiered gossip.

The ‘principles’ of conservatism is ‘God’, family and country, taking personal individual responsibility... God is the one who sorts the sheep from the goats, not you.

Who the .ell is ‘axios’, and since when are ‘they’ the go to handbook about anyone’s mojo... Bannon is in Florida with President Trump... that speaks volumes. All this subterranean tunneling making claims without any verification are just not credible.

They are anti-Trumpets. I am getting sick of their constant sniping. The guy barely got elected but is running full steam ahead. Meanwhile the useless GOP Establishment goes slinking off on VACATION without having done a single damn thing except appoint Gorsuch and most of that was a result of Trump and McConnell. Once again the idiots in the GOP peanut gallery are forming another circular firing squad.
