Better add Trump to that list now; he authorized the strike.
“Well that escalated quickly.”
Posturing. A real strike on the destroyers would be air launched and would include Incirlik, Turkey. Believe me, nobody wants a shooting war. Trump’s strike was to send a message. The Russian ship is sending a message. Let’s hope nobody misinterprets the meanings of the message.
Most likely, the American ambassador in Moscow briefed his counterpart shortly before or after the strike. Probably Israel got a briefing and Turkey as well. Iraq and the Kurds would probably be notified.
Russia bringing over another coal burning piece of crap. Someday we’ll be friends. Just not today...
“Symbolic face saving gesture. “

I certainly hope you’re right.
.
This is a lot like what happened in Kosovo. Remember when the Russians moved in and took over the Pristina Airport. And stupid Wesley Clark almost got us into WWIII.
Meanwhile we have a new Supreme Court justice. Thank you Pres Trump. MAGA.

"Yyyyyeahhhhhh. That's going to be just a little too little, too late, mmm-kay?"
Good thing we don’t have anyone in power that wants war with Russia. Oh wait..
I am still conflicted on this one - I think a huge part of this message was directed to the ChiComs and Norks (I thought the timing was impeccable with the ChiCom dictator leaving MaraLago.
That said, here are some simple realities -
1. Unless there is an assured post-Assad future, the Russians will not let Assad fall. Their only warm water Russian port is in Syria (Tartus) and its critically important as a maintenance facility for the Russian Black Sea Fleet and its other naval activities/supply points in the Gulf/Middle East.
2. A 40-year renewal was signed by Putin & Assad just this January and the Russians will not let go of Tartus voluntarily.
3. The Russians may negotiate having a different Baathist in power instead of Assad
4. The loss of 20 fighters in the strike, if true, is devastating to the Syrian Army. It degrades their strike ability greatly - and we may see increased Russian air power in battle in the near future.
Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
All part of the play. Trump probably even told the Russkies to do it, for show.
Don't forget that our President is a genius and plays 3 d chess.
The Russian Navy has sent its most advanced Black Sea frigate into the Eastern Mediterranean on Friday following a U.S. missile strike on a Syrian airfield, according to ship spotters in Turkey.
Guided missile frigate Admiral Grigorovich based in Sevastopol, Crimea passed through the Bosporus Strait early Friday into the Mediterranean only hours after two U.S. guided missile destroyers fired 59 Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles that targeted the al-Shayrat Airfield in central Syria.
Ship spotter Yörük Işık told USNI News the frigate was only in port for nine days before heading back to the Mediterranean and crossing the strait shortly after the U.S. strike.
The 4,000-ton frigate fields up to eight of the Russian Kalibir NK long range land attack cruise missiles first used operationally in 2015 from Russian Navy ships in the Caspian Sea to strike targets in Syria.
Late last year, Grigorovich operated with the Kuznetsov carrier strike group off of Syria and fired missiles in support of the Russian-Syrian assault against rebels in Aleppo in November.
The Kremlin was quick to condemn the strike on the Syrian airfield which the U.S. alleges was the point of origin for a Tuesday chemical weapons attack on the city of Khan Sheikhoun. The strike by Assad government forces is believed to have killed dozens.
Russian and Syrian officials placed the blame on the strike on Islamic State forces.

Window dressing...
A good way to prove Russia didn’t help you get elected is to start a war with them. Just be sayin’.
Classless post.
.
Of course, Russia will say no it’s routine.
