Senator Black cited the 2013 sarin gas attack that was falsely blamed on President Assad and warned against a knee-jerk reaction into war, based upon accounts detailed by White Helmets and rebels, who are at war with President Assad. "If President Assad had these weapons, why wouldn't he use them on ISIS soldiers instead of his own people? ISIS are masters of manipulation and we cannot take America to the brink of WWIII based upon accounts of an attack given by terrorists, particularly when ISIS knows their only path to victory, at this point, is through American intervention.
In 2013, Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Seymour Hersh reported on two Turkish CHP deputies, Eren Erdem and Ali Şeker, who spoke in İstanbul about a Turkish wiretapping investigation where they uncovered conversations detailing how they would carry out the gas attack and blame it on President Assad.
The May 6, 2013 Washington Times article entitled, "Syrian rebels used Sarin nerve gas, not Assad's regime: U.N. official" details reports from a member of the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria, Carla del Ponte stating, "that there were 'strong, concrete suspicions, but not yet incontrovertible proof,' that rebels seeking to oust Syrian strongman Bashar al-Assad had used the nerve agent." Senator Black said, "This is the modus operandi of ISIS. They've staged attacks to look like President Assad did it before, and it makes sense that they would do it again."
Former Congressman Ron Paul said, "Does anyone believe that on the eve of peace talks, just after the White House said the Syrian people should choose their own leaders, that Assad would launch a gas attack to turn the whole world against him? We don't either. We're back to the same lies that got us into Iraq. Do we never learn to question the propaganda?"

I agree that the idea that Assad was the one throwing gas sound very, very hinky. But I don’t care. No matter who did it, we have no dog in this fight. None of the players are not our sworn enemies and we will receive no positive result for any military effort we put into this conflict. Not our fight not our problem. Trump promised us we would stop getting into stupid wars for no good reason and I want to stop getting to stupid wars for no good reason.
What hospitals are these gas victims in? Can we do autopsies?
The Pres needs to put a team on the ground to verify these claims.
I hope Trump does not fall into this trap.
So much sensory input, so few brain cells. I have read theories about who is (or is not) responsible for this, but dare not even form an opinion because of my lack of knowledge.
I do notice red flags, the biggest being the high quality video showing dead children. Maybe it is just me. I find it curious because it looks as if I am watching an HD video shot on my iPhone. Something is not quite right about that.
Time will tell.
My heart breaks to see the images of those dead babies, but it breaks more when our troops return home in a body bag. I have no doubt we could take Assad out, but at what cost?

Except for ISIS and Al-Qaeda. So far, at least, Trump has been targeting only ISIS.
This what I am saying ISIS is our enemy, fighting Assad (their enemy) would be counterproductive. Assad is Putin’s puppet, he is Putin’s problem. There is no outcome in this war that would be worth us getting into it.
