There was no “good” reason that his grandson had to be in that house.
They were not thieves, they were robbers. This wasn’t a property crime, this was a violent crime. The victim was outnumbered, and the robbers had weapons and were concealing their faces. There was zero reason for the victim to expect that he would make it out of the crime alive.
I don’t think it’s necessarily grandpa’s fault and as a grandparent I can understand his grief. It’s sad this happened and not reason to celebrate.

Actually they did deserve it.
It was a mixed race gang. Too complicated for the news media to spin the narrative into race riots. The only thing they had was to puff up the use of an AR-15. Most people don’t care what type of weapon was used for self-defense.
The guy has a point - made me consider. Come to my house next time, I’ll be more considerate and use an AR-10. Numerically, it’s 33% “nicer” to thieving scumbags!!
I had to move my AR’s to my buds house in PA. due to the fact I wouldn’t register them in NY. and they represented about 4 or 5 felony’s each. So in the spirit of making it fair I bought a Benelli Nova Tactical for home protection,i’m sure the politicians figure this is a better deal for the would be criminals.

One looks mostly black to me, and then there’s 21 yo hispanic last-name female getaway driver that vamoosed at the sound of gunfire. She allegedly knew Peters, had been in the home, and set up the “burglary”. Apparently, she didn’t know Peters well enough to choose a less vigilant “target”.
She now has to deal with 3 felony murder charges. Probably a civil suit from gramps [not getting his cut of that attempted burglary, as well as being cut off from the cut of future ones], too.
I like it,I can’t imagine the kind of wound an M-1 would inflict up close like that.You might need medical attention for your ears after shooting in a closed room like that.

I am reminded of a Captain Wilson who, during the Civil War, was attacked in his home by seven men. He got to his 16 shot Henry Lever action rifle and shot all seven dead with eight shots.
Wonder if the families of those slain bawled and bellowed about the seven being outgunned by one man.
