The “years of therapy” were condensed rather quickly when my father, perceiving my distress at Truman being elected, gave me what he termed a “shoe factory up my @zz”, and told me to get the H*ll back to my chores.
It was pretty effective. I did not whine about the prospects of having to deal with Truman in the White House after that.
