Not necessarily. I remember an old woman on Hwy 33 in Mayes County who had her door kicked in one night about fifty years ago. Her dog sprang to the attack and they beat the dog half to death. It was blind from that day on and the old woman took care of it until it’s death.
She had nothing to steal but they terrorized her anyway taking what little she had. From that day on she always carried a gun and would not answer the door for anyone. If some stranded traveler (as I was) came by she would call a male neighbor to come and take care of business.
Last time I was through there her house had been vacant for years.
I remember another rural home invasion east of Tulsa many years ago. The home owner laid them out with a 30-30.
I dunno. I read it that he killed all three with one shot.
Having lived about 45 minutes from Broken Arrow I understood.
To shoot three with a rifle before numbers two and three could run away is amazing. I guess the one outside tried to get away. Was he facing the door or the sidewalk? If he was shot in the back, that’s trouble. Hope the homeowner and son are totally cleared.

When I lived there, they called the “Broken Arrow Expressway” the “Broken Arm Expressway” because of all the accidents.
