Can you imagine what losers for parents these people must be? What kind of parent would MAKE their kid read “It Takes A Village” - just in case the kid wasn’t brainwashed ENOUGH? If anything, the parents are partly responsible for this murder by instilling the leftist ideology that killed their daughter and made her too ignorant to protect herself.

The part to focus on is “you shall not favor a poor person” which is what the Leftists, with their mis-guided compassion, do. Reminds me of the ancient Greeks who thought poverty was a virtue.
The NE part where this unfortunate lived is one of the most rapidly “changing” parts of DC. Further up NE is where the DNC staffer was murdered this summer; still rather odd since unlike most murderers in DC, the attacker took nothing of value off the body. It is always interesting when left-liberals talk of a “changing” or “improving” or “gentrifying” neighborhoods in DC into which they can move - invariably this is code word for chasing the long-time black residents out. You see it in the statistics you posted.

Too many liberals dismiss real concerns about crime, etc., as baseless paranoia. They really do believe that if they will just take time to talk to people and “understand” them, then everyone will get along together. Leftist “intellectuals” have even written scholarly articles “proving” that conservatives’ brains are wired in such a way as to make them excessively fearful.
Poor girl. Reality is a harsh mistress. And being fearful in certain situations is a survival instinct. I know—I’m alive because of that instinct.
Years ago I went to NE at the invitation of a colleague. Indoors there was civilization with decent intelligent people. Outside there was a kind of neighborhood watch. Everybody was watched. With that much watching you would think it would be safe and it probably is, 95% of the time.
I didn’t either until I looked it up! There have been big changes in the last couple of decades.
