Saving Obamacare is now up to Trump (CNN)
CNN ^ | March 24, 2017 | Tami Luhby

Posted on 03/25/2017 6:46:28 AM PDT by lowbridge

Minutes after House Republicans shelved their bill that was supposed to save the nation's health care, Trump repeated that Obamacare was on the verge of collapse. "Bad things are going to happen to Obamacare," said Trump, calling out the large premium increases and insurer defections that plagued the exchanges this year. "There's not much you can do about it. It's not sustainable."

While Trump is trying to shift the responsibility to the Democrats, it's his administration that will largely have to decide whether 20 million people who gained coverage under the sweeping 2010 health reform law will remain insured.

It's not at all clear that Obamacare is in a death spiral, but there's no question the program is troubled. Insurers have found themselves with sicker and costlier customers than they expected, forcing them to raise rates and exit certain markets.

Someone must shoot down the stupid “20 million gained healthcare “ nonsense and propaganda

I am counted among those 20 million - I was forced on to an Obamacare marketplace after my policy was cancelled (twice now) and I was given NO CHOICE. I now pay triple what I did 4 years ago

Is he supposed to pay for every one of his own pocket?

From what I understand the deductibles are going up and people are losing insurance.

Wrong. As people suffer under Obamacare, they will expect the current, majority held administration to fix it. They won't blame democrats because they aren't in “power”. They will demand relief from Trump and blame him as it implodes. That's the way political “memory” works in ADD America.

So was amnesty, stimulus and corporate exec taxpayer bailouts.. but trump gets a free pass on all of this while he supported a healthcare bill that targeted veterans for substandard care. Standing before a Medal of Honor winner, pass veterans death legislation.. or else.. I’m coming after you freedom caucus. Shameful.

Since the GOP can’t produce a better bill for the health care for the nation’s people then accept Obamacare and move on. The GOP treated it as a tax bill and that was a boo boo.

I think Trump is a fast learner and he should revert to the GOP party he tried to create - a populist one - rather than the GOP type that he beat in the primaries.

Ryan is GOPe, incompetent. 8 years to write a bill without the insurance companies taking over spells the wrong way.

I respectfully disagree.

I would agree with you if we had a typical RINO president. President Trump uses the bully pulpit better than any president before him in history, AT LEAST since Ronald Reagan was president.

I firmly believe that President Trump will keep the collapsing Obamacare firmly in the news and will repeat the mantra that the Democrats own it, passed it without a single Republican vote, and did nothing to try to fix it when RINOcare failed.

Donald Trump is like no other. I have to respectfully disagree with you. I honestly believe “it is different this time” because we have a different president this time — private sector, results oriented, tough, brilliant communicator, media saavy, and knows the way the general public thinks.

I feel good about this one. Sorry you don’t, but I do understand where you are coming from. Typically, with an idiot like Romney or McCain as president, apologizing for everything, yes then you are right — the public would pin this on the current Administration.

Trump is different.

The current population of the US, per the census bureau, is about 330 million people, 20 million are on Obamacare which is about .06% of the population, and its failing.
The Obama administration claims 20 million more Americans today have health care due to Obamacare. But that is based on six years of survey data, not actual sign-ups. The reality is that when you look at the actual net gains over the past two years since the program was fully implemented, the number is 14 million, and of that, 11.8 million (84 percent) were people given the “gift” of Medicaid.

http://dailysignal.com/2017/01/13/why-obamacares-20-million-number-is-fake/

You hear it over and over again: “This will be catastrophic for the 20 million people who were previously uninsured but now have coverage! You can’t take away their health care!”

First of all, no one is talking about doing that. Any repeal legislation will have a transition period for those who got coverage through Obamacare to move to new plans. And second, they will have more choices and better options. Win. Win.

Defund Obamacare, or make all federal employees, including politicians live under it, remove their current coverage, and it will die a quick death, and believe me, they will not give a thought to the 20 million people it affects.

Again, Just My Opinion.

Versus the millions more who want their previous insurance plans restored?

Trump should “tie concrete blocks to its feet and throw it in the river.”

Price still should be able to play havoc with the regs.

No it is not... it is up to the Conservatives in Congress to push - shove and get the hell out of the way ... to REPEAL OBAMACARE in TOTAL and come up with a market based plan with minimal government interference....

There in lies the rub. How does the federal government come up with a market based plan when insurance regulation is up to the states? A market based plan would be the repeal itself and let the market decide how to deliver insurance.

The real answer is that it is now up to the grassroots. Get out of obamacare yourself and the repeal won't be necessary. If you don't want to pay the fine then for a little bit more than the fine you could join a health cost sharing co-op.

AAAAHHHHHHHHH.

But the definition of a death spiral is ... sicker customers lead to raising rates lead to healthier customers not renewing leading to an even higher percentage of sicker customers leading to ...

Two sentences in the paragraph, and the second contradicts the first. That’s worse than convoluted logic!
