Democrats aren't going to do any deals to end Obamacare.

GOP will start to chip away at Obamacare after they have realized that it was too big to replace at once.

Obamacare is going to collapse by itself without Gov't funding.

Why put up a bad bill that gets the Democrats off the hook?

If they do another bill it is going to be with the Democrats and won’t be as conservative. Defunding PP, forget about that. They are short sighted. A lot of things that were going to be done on this bill aren’t going to happen in a bill with the Dems. They acted like this had to be the end. If they passed this the next vote would have had some good things baked in. It would have been a better position to start negotiations with the Democrats.

Single Payer is the logical result of the freedom caucus selling us into slavery again. They are RINOs and are incapable or unwilling to compromise to get a deal with Republicans. They stabbed President Trump in the back on his first initiative because they got greedy. Now they get nothing. What is worse is now we may get nothing.

Ryan could pass a ***full*** repeal of Obamacare in one day in the House; seriously.

Then what was all this gibberish from the Freedom Caucus about how they were on the very cusp of a deal Thursday night?

“Ryan tried to play games and lost.”

Most definitely. Not a fan of Ryan.

Foremost, I don’t want even another year or two more of Obamacare, and besides the Dems aren’t the ones on the hook now. The Republicans have both houses of Congress and the presidency. Whatever horrors happen with our health care system, they will get the blame for not having stopped it. And if Obamacare collapses because of defunding efforts on the part of the Republicans, the latter will definitely get the blame (what a great excuse we would hand the Dems to pretend it wasn’t failing on its own). If we just wait and do nothing, though, the collapse might not happen while we still have control of the Congress and presidency (and that Dem-influenced replacement bill might make Ryan’s bill look crazy conservative in comparison).

Trump and the Republicans of all stripes need to keep working on a compromise agreement now; just leaving Obamacare in place hoping one day changes might happen is a disastrous stance imo.

Are you saying that this bill was going to take away the sharing ministries for health care expenses? Good Lord, that is horrible. I can’t believe they would do that. I am dumbfounded:(

"Freedom Caucus saved him. Hope Bannon gets that through Trump’s head."

Got that damn right! Paul RINO is the big loser here and I hope it costs him his Speakership!

Just get the damn government out of health care, out of charity, and out of property ownership with the exception of military installations.
Those are all free market considerations that the government should have nothing to do with.

YES -— people just aren’t paying attention.

See this thread, where I got a Post answer and he includes a long message he got from his insurer about what was going on.

I have to post this again, here. Thanks again joethedrummer.

I don’t get any of this...

Obamacare/Trump/Ryancare is NOT healthcare; it is putting a financial GUN to our heads in order to FORCE us to buy INSURANCE.

That’s the bottom line for me.

It’s utter corruption and banana republic tactics.

Government, GET THE HELL OUT OF IT!! PERIOD!!!

No, the GOP will not get blamed for the failures of Obamacare.

The Democrats have shown no sign of changing anything in the Bill and therefore the Bill is still all theirs.

Sure, just like W. didn’t get blamed for Barney Frank and the Dems destroying the housing market, just because he was the leader of the country at the time…

The public knows that the Republicans could have gotten rid of Obamacare at any time. If it’s still in place at the end of next year and wreaking havoc on the American people, the Republicans will pay for it. There’s no getting around the fact that they are the ones in charge of our health care system at this point, and they will (perhaps rightfully) get the blame if it continues to decline. The American people normally react to bad events by blaming their leaders. I can see no reason why they’d make some big exception now.

Thanks for the interesting history! I left out the operative word “silk”, my bad. However, I would say the substance in the story that was created from the sow’s ear was still not “silk”. I say the old adage still holds true!

I agree with you completely. The finished product was beautiful, and with its lovely colors and tassels did resemble silk. But of course it wasn’t real silk; just a chemically engineered sleight of hand/eye.

Here is an article that contains a small image of the purse. You may agree that it’s very attractive. Unlike the other article, this one reveals Little’s motives. He said the old adage had been used to discourage creativity and inventiveness. His efforts to produce the purse were meant to encourage engineers to attempt feats previously thought impossible. Take that for what it’s worth. :)

Thanks for the picture, it’s quite amazing. Are those two purses front to front? Along Little’s point about encouraging creativity, here’s another (Russian) adage I learned from my Mom: “You can’t bake a pancake to feed the whole world.” I always visualize someone baking a pancake the size of a football stadium!

You’re welcome. That is a single purse, with two clasps holding it shut around the middle. I gather the design came from the Middle Ages, when this was the style of the fanciest purses.

That’s a great expression, about the pancake. I had never heard it before. Very interesting!
