Trump, Ryan fail to repeal Obamacare
McCl;atchy via the Sacramento Bee ^ | March 24th, 2017 | By Teresa Welsh

President Donald Trump Friday afternoon called House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and asked him to pull the health care bill 30 minutes ahead of a scheduled floor vote. This is the second day in a row an expected House vote did not take place due to lack of Republican support from their own party for the Obamacare replacement.

The move was a major retreat for Trump, who demanded that lawmakers vote on the embattled GOP-crafted bill that’s facing stiff opposition from the conservative and moderate wings within the House Republican conference. In remarks Friday afternoon from the Oval Office, Trump said it was difficult to pass the bill without a single Democratic vote.

“Let Obamacare explode,” Trump said. “I think we have to let Obamcare go its way for a little while ... When it explodes, which it will soon, if [Democrats] got together with us and got a real health care bill, I’d be totally open to it.”

Republicans want Obamacare. Those creeps in the House and Senate are not subject to Obamacare. So, they don’t care. I believe this Ryan bill was a set up to hurt Trump. Ryan and the GOPe crew were behind this crappy bill. I do not believe Paul Ryan at all.

It was a Gordian knot left by the dims. Perhaps Trump over promised or oversimplified the solution before really looking into it. But knowing Trump he doesn’t lose. Stand by.

that’s right! passing a hasty bill with no Democrat imput or votes and without any debate simply repeats the same mistake that liberals made in 2009 by all voting to pass Obamacare. It’s a GOOD thing that GOP couldn’t get together & act like a dumb herd of cattle getting branded. Paul Ryan is not the right guy....& half the GOP didn’t even want a solution because they don’t want the federal government being involved in healthcare, except maybe some tax credits or deduction & some changes in regulation. Trump shouldn’t have expected the more conservative & liberatarian segments of the party to get behind Ryan’s replacement bill.......and he couldn’t expect the more liberal segment of the party to follow along, either...without any Democrat imput or votes. Trump was never going to bring along conservatives on the right to join him in with his goal of coming up with a government initiative to replace Obamacare with something better. He know says that he welcomes Democrat imput. That’s a good thing. It’s their albatross around the country’s neck....& as it continues to harm more people than it helps, it will continue to harm Democrats & help Republicans politically......to the point where Democrats will have to repudiate the law & really come to the center & try to help Trump solve the problem....but not from the far left. And then if there is blame, it won’t all go onto the Republicans.

The strategy was all wrong on this. The should have constructed a bill and sent it to the senate. If the senate couldn’t pass it it would have been on Chuck Shummers back. It was dumb and Ryan couldn’t plan his way out of a paper bag.

He’s a loser but he is going to have to be propped up because it’s not a fight we can face at this time. If he flubs the tax cut he should be sent to the back bench. Newt should be brought in to school him.

Never be afraid to back away from a bad deal!

I may be nuts, but Trump is brilliant. Rino Ryan is going DOWN. Well played Mr. Trump.

“...and now he wants to negotiate with Democrats on healthcare? They may laugh themselves to death at his naïveté.)”

And you think the gope were trying to push Trump into a bad bill wait the Dems get in bed.

“But knowing Trump he doesn’t lose. Stand by.”

He will build a coalition of Democrats and moderate Republicans to kill everything the Republican establishment wants.

And, to enact that which they and their donors abhor: Single Payer healthcare.

This is the very last time Republican in the US Congress will have to f**k Donald Trump.

They should have repealed CommieCare and then left it up to the RINOS and Progressives to scamper around to come up with something ... if anything. Remember, we had a pretty good system before CommieCare.

The move was a major retreat for Trump

This part. These people wouldn't know the difference between a retreat and strategic move if it kicked them in the head. Of course even if they knew this, they wouldn't admit it.☺

Schumer would filibuster and nothing would get done until after 2018 at the bare minimum.

Which is looking likely anyway.

Can it, you have no call to start name calling. I’ve been with Trump since the beginning. But he is a politician now and he’s showing his naïveté and incompetence in this field.

This jobs road show and the Keystone pipeline are minuscule matters...be needs wins on his big signature items. What is he going to do when a district court judge stops Keystone with another quarter-assed “ruling”? Is he going to wait until a filibuster is negotiated away by giving the Democrats something else to hang around his neck? Then take every little decision to the Supreme Court while the Democrats stall and stall until they wipe out the Republicans in 2018 - which they WILL if his big promises are shown to be the usual garbage because he can’t deliver.

He needs to get his Administration in overdrive and start setting out a political agenda, while banging heads or slitting throats, whatever is necessary to get it through. His Administration looks confused and incompetent. He needs to change that this hour. They are sinking.

You know what I’m thinking about today?

All the little Trump Kids and Trump Teens and Trump Wives that are going to have to hang their heads and live with sideways smirks and taunts of “Republicans lie” on a day to day basis while the House sips their champagne.

The only news today is the anti-Trumpers in the House went Jones Town.

Then McConnell would need to show is he is either a leader or needs to be replaced. Get the tax bill done first. Then let him filibuster, only make them actually do it

And he is clearly reaching out to Democrats after the Republicans f**ked him. Single payer will be the platform of the 2018 elections, you heard it here first.

You think Trump will sign a single payer bill?

I fully agree, Freedom Circus back stabbed him, they will back stab again for Tax bill. GOP just knows how to obstruct and nothing else. GOP will lose 2018 and Single payer will be law of land.

The Freedom Caucus is Trump's friend and the failure of Ryancare will lead to something better.
