The Democrats’ ditch is only getting deeper
Washington Post ^ | March 22, 2017 | by Ed Rogers

Democrats in Congress are digging themselves a ditch that keeps getting deeper. There’s no good fight to be had on Judge Neil Gorsuch, they’re getting steamrolled on repealing and replacing Obamacare, and their base has lurched to the far left, fully outside their grasp. The result? An out-of-touch leadership that can’t stop babbling. And for all the Trump administration’s miscues, Democrats haven’t laid a glove on the president. They couldn’t appear any weaker.

Democrats are clearly lost, with no sense of direction. Their efforts to oppose the GOP agenda have failed, and their base knows it. Writing in the Hill yesterday, Jonathan Easley describes Democrats as having “a leadership vacuum at the top.” He’s right. The Democratic base has lurched so far to the left that the party’s establishment now looks foolish trying to catch up. The only good news I have for my friends on the left is that in politics, things are never as good or as bad as they appear.

If Trump and the GOP leadership in Congress can keep their heads level for the next few weeks, they will succeed in not only repealing and replacing Obamacare but also confirming a justice to the Supreme Court who will help shape the country for decades to come. A conservative vision for the nation may finally have a chance to be realized.

Why remind them? Let them dig. The press and media is looking forward to easy work once they tire of doing PR for the swampiticians who want to punch Trump like one of those punching clowns.

Do nothing to act as point for a bunch of self absorbed, corrupt, overpaid nitwits.

Like dangerous, rabid animals that have become a threat to society.

Jonathan Easley describes Democrats as having “a leadership vacuum at the top.”

Only political hacks in DC and the media can take Nancy Pelosi seriously, because they have spent their lives in politics, and have become quite good at ignoring reality and accepting cognitive dissonance. She is nowhere close to be a "leader" by any definition.

The only good news I have for my friends on the left is that in politics, things are never as good or as bad as they appear.

I read that differently than he meant it. President Trump is still on course to peel away blue collar and black voters. The young democrats are so angry they are moving into socialist parties. And the middle establishment democrats are about to be crushed under investigations and scandals. Right now is as good as it gets for the democrats for a long long time.

Not quite. It's the top Democrats who have lurched to the left and there are fewer people who want to follow their nonsense.

Their efforts to oppose the GOP agenda have failed

They should try supporting a pro-America agenda.

Although that would probably be a much too radical change in agenda for their base to deal with.

The biggest obstacle for the GOP is within their own stupid party! The only advantage for the democrates is they never give up and they never oppose each other. The GOP should try this once and awhile!

Democrat Party can’t begin the job of fixing itself because the Clintonistas are dug-in and won’t let go of power. She wants to run again, even if in a wheel chair. Or a hearse.

The Dims have a leader. The best Democrat since Jackson is now POTUS. The need to switch parties or find themselves a true socialist/communist leader. I mean it. Not all socialist/communists are complete idiots or even hate their country and wish its demise.

Apparently you have somehow overlooked the leftist clowns and thugs engaging in demonstrations and violence all over the country ever since the election.

The top leaders in the D party are all in their 70's advancing quickly toward a bunch of Marxists octogenarians. They are just like their counter parts in other parts of the world, Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, by any means necessary and eventually force. Force is the only way leftist governments can succeed, no choice, no liberty, death if you don't comply.

And now the leftists have proven that they will not respect the raw data gathering of all of our activities by the NSA and have now proven they will use that data against political enemies, too, too much.

11-26-16, White House insists hackers didn't sway election, even as recount begins. (headline)

“We stand behind our election results, which accurately reflect the will of the American people,” a senior administration official told POLITICO late Friday.
