Law enforcement: It's a tough job but somebody's got to do it. But what happens when no one wants to be that somebody?
Numerous police departments around the country are desperately losing manpower with decreasing numbers of officers and recruits. Law enforcement is becoming less of a desirable career choice due to diminishing pay, high risk, and of course a recent bad rap — a trend that could put public safety at risk, say policing experts.
The current shortage afflicts police forces from large metropolitan hubs to rural towns.
"Departments are struggling to find not only interested, but interested and qualified, candidates to join the force," said Jim Burch, vice president of the Police Foundation. "With everything happening around policing from salary to criticism, the question many people are asking is 'is it worth it?'"

Considering the war on cops for the last several years, I’m surprised anyone wants the jobs.
and also so many young ninnies running around ..

Fireman, sanitation, bus driver, Parks..there are lots of city jobs you can get where you wont face 20 years in prison for defending yourself.

Here are some solutions to the cop shortage.
1. Round up the illegal alien criminals and send them back to their own country for jailing.
2. Keep our convicted criminals in prison for their entire sentence since repeat offenders are so common.
Both of these solutions would reduce the number of bad people cops would encounter.
I remember when everyone wanted to be a cop. Now? Not so much. Cops have become targets. At this rate, they’ll need more cops to simply protect the existing cops.
3. Treat all murderers as adults and sentence in adult courts.
Quit using cops to levy taxes you can’t pass at city hall. That will make the job more palatable.

What about using the National Guard - locked and loaded.!
Cops are only there to get shot at and prosecuted if they use self defense.
Many no longer are interested.
After 8 years of Obama doing everything he could to attack police (and the military) who would want to be a cop?
