Simply stated, Gorsuch is steadfast and surprising

DENVER — It was a horrific case. A female student had been gang-raped by football players being recruited by the University of Colorado. Now, her lawyers were trying to hold the university partly responsible, arguing it had created a hostile environment for women.

A lower court had already rejected their civil rights argument. As her lawyers prepared to appeal in 2007, they had an overarching concern: a federal appellate judge named Neil Gorsuch.

With Gorsuch being now subject to the Democrat Inquisition, I am surprised that Title searches did not find this already posted here. The omission is unfortunate because we Conservatives, of all people, ought to be best informed about those we propose to support. For any who know litte or nothing about Neil Gorsuch, this profile piece will help greatly as you study to fill in the blanks.

“Hostile environment for women” is such a snowflake phrase. If the University knew that one,or more,of the players had a history of violence (just to use one example) I could see it being held partially responsible. But the fact that the Compost has positive things to say about him...particularly things like that...make me wonder if this guy could prove to be another Souter.

Summary: Gorsuch is a good guy because he ruled for the plaintiff. More results-based analysis from the Washington Compost. But the good news is that if the Compost is talking up Gorsuch as such a great guy, the Dems have lost this battle.

Note: not many conservative responses on WP. Lets support Gorsuch. Here is mine.

There is an interesting and apropos term of art in litigation. It is called ‘opening the door” When Harry Reid changed the rules on the filibuster, he forever changed a tradition, not a law. He was warned that the nuclear option could come back to bite the Dems, but went ahead because he couldn’t imagine another Republican President in tandem with a Republican Senate.

Those were the days when Dems and liberal MSM discussions were all about the transformation of America under Obama and the continuation of the liberal regimes under the guidance of the inevitable President Clinton.

There may be Senators on the left who will vote to keep the new “nuclear option tradition” to defeat Republican appointees to the Court, but I suspect the Republicans will simply do away with the filibuster altogether if that happens. After all, Democrats have called for the elimination of the filibuster for years because it happened to be used mostly by Republicans who were trying to stop the transformation of America

But Gorsuch himself is perhaps not so predictable.

"Not so predictable" if you want to "predict" that he will act as a hard partisan, like he's "supposed to". The Compost is irreedemable.

The dems who oppose him are vicious partisans. He is an excellent choice.

When do the dems find someone willing to take a little money for saying that Gorsuch said the n word in 1998? Or that he talked coke bottles with women?

The Washington Post should stick with what they do best: kissing white liberal elite butt.

My guess is the Post is saving their fire for the next appointment - and this article will be used to show they're 'fair'. It's a lie - the Post is never 'fair' but this piece - a transparent manipulation will be dragged out when the time is ripe...

I think you’re drawing the wrong conclusion. The Compost likes him because he made the “right” decision in this case — to rule for, to use the current phrase, “the little guy”. We like him because he made the decision based on the law. And as the ignoramus Feinswein discovered today, he has much more history of making decisions based on the law than reflexively for the “right” kind of plaintiff or defendant.

Bret Baier suggested Goerch should be the SECOND Trump SCOTUS nominee-he’s that good. I say no. Cruz for the theatrics. The 6th conservative. He will REALLY eat them up. If the whako left acting out helps Trump, then Cruz will keep it going big time.

As the new head of EPA, Anne Gorsuch wasted no time acting on her ideas for slashing big government and reducing regulations. To the howls of environmental groups and Democrats, she cut the agency’s budget by 22 percent, dramatically decreased cases and actions against polluters, relaxed Clean Air Act regulations and started hiring staff from the industries the EPA was supposed to regulate.

Remember how the 1980s was the last time we had clean air and clean water? And now the entire country is an environmental disaster because of those cuts to budget and regulations and enforcement? Me neither. Trump and Pruitt, take note!

We like him because he made the decision based on the law.

How often do you think that cases decided in favor of the women claiming "an environment hostile to women" are decisions based on the law? Remember,Obola was elected twice on the basis that "the White House is an envirnoment hostile to Kenyans".And ILLary *almost* succeeded by shouting "hostile to women".

“The argument of originalists like Gorsuch is always ‘Well, I’m just following the law.’ But it’s intellectually dishonest to pretend you can somehow divine the original founders’ intent,” said Ayesha Khan, a former longtime legal director for Americans United for Separation of Church and State

Yes, all you have to go on is The Federalist Papers, extensive histories of personal letters amongst them, speeches, and nearly three centuries of books written about them and the early days of the country.

It worries me to see The Post supporting Gorsuch, to any degree and for any reason.
