Insurers weigh a simpler, cheaper treatment for artery disease: supervised workouts

That is on the cusp of changing, experts say, because of a long-awaited proposal from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to cover what’s known as supervised exercise therapy — a program of graduated exercise with the help of an exercise physiologist, which is currently covered after certain kinds of cardiac events, but not for PAD.

The CMS proposal was triggered by an official request from the American Heart Association in September and is now open for public comment. So far, the input — mostly from specialists — has been overwhelmingly positive, making it likely that the change will take place on or before May 31. And if CMS decides to cover something, private insurers generally follow suit.

If people took care of themselves, health costs could dramatically be reduced. I have always believed that those who don’t should pay more for insurance.

People would find it a lot easier to take care of themselves if the advice they were getting wasn’t flat-out wrong.

That might explain the robo calls I’ve gotten from my new supplimental health insurer, UHC (I’m on Medicare) with questions about my health.
The very first question asked was if I had trouble getting around my place, inside or out. I immediately hung up.
Since then I’ve received one or two more calls telling me to call some number to answer questions. I have NOT complied.

Might be interesting to see where this goes from here.

About 1/2 of faggots TRY to get Aids, since they see Being Poz as validation of the Fully Gay Man’s Experience.

Hey, why should THEY pay “normal” rates..?

They’re getting SUBSIDIZED.’

If you smoke or ride a motorcycle you PAY MORE.

They should pay MUCH more.

Changing your diet and getting rid of most of the carbs can be even more helpful.

After being on such a diet for a short time, the VA took me off my diabetes, blood pressure and Satin drugs for high cholesterol. Everything normal...

I have always believed that those who don’t should pay more for insurance.

I've always gotten my life insurance through my employer so I've never had to complete a long application form.however,it's my understating that if one is a skydiver in his/her spare time you either pay more for life insurance of have any death resulting from skydiving excluded from coverage.

The same thing should apply to health insurance.

I pay $100/month to my local Crossfit box. How do I get my insurance company to pay for my supervised treadmill/rower workouts so I can go longer (in my triathalon) without pain? Dropping loads of cash on problems that can’t be fixed is just stupid.

I’m starting a business to wear people’s FitBits for them. I’ll clean up, if insurance companies mandate a certain amount of exercise.

For the cost of a few dozen donuts a day, I will wear your exercise monitor device and I will walk 1.5 miles.

Doctors used to advertise cigarettes. We have seen that people using good common sense is easily as effective as using the “expert” of the day’s proclamations.

Not me. Just an idea. Clearly, some people cost the system more because of voluntary behavior.

Dumb idea, every person needs to be accessed if they can even exercise. Just a trip to PT will pop disc which can’t be fixed in my back, you think I’m going to let some idiot tell me how to exercise to help my arteries? I take K2 Complex, keeps them clean and the Calcium in my bones.

Half my health issues are medicine caused. Try fixing the FDA for bad drugs.

I take very good care with what I eat, drink, and weigh. I use vitamins and minerals now not drugs for most health issues. I’ve a full sheet of drugs I’ve reacted to and need to add 2 more which will trip it to a second page, and some are group by category as 1 drug. OP/OA and Cholesterol drugs all make me very sick or send me to the ER with A-Fib, the OA drugs ruined my gastro track.

K2 Complex and B6 50-100MG will bring your HDL up and clean out your arteries, don’t care what the Cardio says, I know it works. Had a small amount from Calcium leaking out of bones, started the K2 Complex I now have no plaque! Their knowledge of vits and mins is so small it barely exist. Even the ENDO stops a D3 and Cal. Heart docs want to sell all that expensive statins loaded with tons of side effects.

Hubby uses statins he still has plaque, Statins do not dissolve plaque. Lots of people can’t stand even the no flush Niacin, B6 is a good sub. http://www.progressivehealth.com/try-these-vitamins-if-you-have-high-cholesterol.htm

Exercise can have benefits, exercise can cause damage.

Hours of moderate cardio in the “fat burning zone” does more harm than good.
