Sad news. Just received word that NYTexan passed away today. I believe it was a heart attack, but I don't have details yet.
Prayers up for his family and love ones.

Just heard from officer and apparently the brother did not want to take my number or have the officer give me his number to call about any funeral arrangements. Very strange. Breaks my heart even more. What a sad day. We may all have to honor him in our own way and start another Memorial Shoot in his honor too! He would like that I know.

He deserves a military funeral, not sure how that’s done.In order to have military honors, a DD214 would need to be presented to the funeral home handling the arrangements. Then, either they would tell you whom to request the honors from, or make the arrangement themselves (it varies from funeral home to funeral home, so there's no hard fast 'rule', but the valid DD214 is a must, as it is the definitive proof of status as a veteran.)
