Donald Trump took on Sen. John McCain's status as a war hero and won the GOP nomination anyway.

Spicer took an extraordinary position Wednesday, saying anyone who questioned the success of the raid in Yemen that led to the death of a Navy SEAL was doing a disservice to the SEAL's memory. The target was McCain.

McCain and many others in Congress should be treated exactly as Benedict Arnold was!

That’s right, a POW is a victim not a hero. Somebody to feel sorry for, not to laud.

I consider John McCain’s military service heroic. I consider his undermining of our country politically to be 100% unrelated to his military heroism.
Anyone serving in a hellish POW camp who doesn’t turn into Jane Fonda to get out of it deserves my respect. It was hell. I didn’t do much of a search for it but this is part of it - he could have been released early from the camp because his dad was an admiral but he declined.
http://www.politico.com/blogs/jonathanmartin/0608/McCain_talks_of_his_decision_to_not_be_released_from_POW_camp.html
I recalled reading about him in a few books. One was “The Climate of Hell” and the other one was “When Hell Was In Session.”
His current conduct dishonors him. HIs military service was honorable.

“But I knew that the Code of Conduct says, “You will not accept parole or amnesty,” and that “you will not accept special favors.” For somebody to go home earlier is a special favor. There’s no other way you can cut it.

I went back to him three nights later. He asked again, “Do you want to go home?” I told him “No.” He wanted to know why, and I told him the reason. I said that Alvarez [first American captured] should go first, then enlisted men and that kind of stuff.”

By McCain’s standard D-day was a failure. Midway was a failure. Valley Forge was a failure. Gettysburg was a failure. Guadalcanal was a failure. On and on.

McCain can’t leave office soon enough.

> “I consider John McCain’s military service heroic.”

I’ve done extensive research on McCain and I see no way for any reasonably informed person to arrive at your view.

McCain was the same in character before his service, during his service, and after his service. His character frankly stinks.

He was the son and grandson of Navy Admirals. He had to go in the service or risk being ostracized by his high ranking family members.

When he was in flight training, he flunked multiple times and was kicked out. Only after his father pulled rank was he reinstated.

When he served, he served a total of 19 hours in combat before he was shot down and he was shot down for flying too low against instructions because he was incompetent.

When he was captured, he let it be known or it was found out that his father was high-ranking. After that was discovered, he was treated better than all the others. The only time he was mistreated was when he refused to ‘confess’ and be released.

The reason McCain refused early release is because Admiral Stockdale was the Commanding Officer of the POWs inside the Hanoi Hilton and he ordered every POW to refuse unless they all were to be released together. McCain knew if he disobeyed orders he would stain his family’s honor forever. So he was no hero in this, he was commanded to do what he did. Following orders is not an act of heroism.

After he was released, his faithful loving wife who had waited patiently in desperation for his safe return was dumped by him because the stress of worrying if would have ever return safely caused her to put on weight, not a lot, but enough for him to dump her in favor of a much younger cuter rich girl whose daddy was linked to the mob in Arizona.

His new girlfriend’s father set him up to take Goldwater’s senate seat when Goldwater retired. McCain had to learn how to talk like a conservative to be elected.

Arizonans do not love him but they are a red state and they have no one else to vote for. When there are primaries McCain has enormous amounts of dirty money line up behind him with mob thugs lining up democrat crossovers to bury his GOP opponents. Then he gets reelected because Arizonans have nowhere else to go.

This man is a scumbag of the first order.

How anyone can buy the lie he was ever a hero is either ignorant or suffers from impaired reasoning. In any case, it is an insult to the many American soldiers who rotted and died in the jungles of Vietnam and who never received even one-tenth of the fake citations that this scumbag received.

And his citations and medals? Every one of them a lie and fabrication. They are not written in accordance with the DOD manuals for citations. They describe no heroic actions in detail. There is nothing he did that merits a hero citation. He’s a walking lie. The reason he received so many citations and commendations was because he was an ‘Admiral’s Boy’ and his father wanted him to be like Kennedy and be a war hero. It was all manufactured. His father wanted him to be in high office and be President. So he dumped his loyal first wife for a new one that could have him ushered in to take Goldwater’s seat.

He’s 80 years old. He won’t be around much longer. And when he’s gone, the public will learn the truth about this scumbag.

When McCain returned from Vietnam he found his wife was crippled in an accident. He allegedly began running around with various younger women and finally settled on a rich one whose family had connections with the mob.

Well, the research I’ve done doesn’t agree with the research you’ve done. I move with caution when disparaging military figures because it’s the pathway most often taken by the left. One of the most shameful public displays in recent memory was the left’s treatment of Petraeus (sp) when he was returning to Washington to report on Iraq. The left set up such a cacophony of slander prior to his arrival that there was a parade float somewhere touting him as General Betray-us. That was Pelosi’s name for him. She told the public he was traveling to Washington to lie, lie, lie to the public. This was before his personal life (adultry) was known - she had nothing but hatred for his political ideology to go on. So knowing that the left believes that there is no such thing as honourable military service, and that when the left perceives a person in the military is respected for the service they target and defame that service - I would have to see good info myself before discarding the research I’ve already done. Not saying what you say can’t be true but I’m careful not to join into the left’s slander of military people based on propaganda. Yes, I researched him well years ago - the question in my mind is did you read the left’s slander, unfounded competitive comments by peers or accounts of people whose reputations are worthy of respect? Lots of book, articles, quotes on military people there and all of it is sworn to be “valid” and yet point to any military ranking officer and there’s rumor that they are scum and rumor that they are honorable.
I fail to see how a reasonable person expects netizens to drop all prior information gathered and run with the latest accusations as fact without at least checking the sources out and reading for oneself.

> “I move with caution when disparaging military figures because it’s the pathway most often taken by the left.”

The Left likes McCain and never misses a chance to play up his ‘hero’ story when there is no ‘hero’ story.

I can tell you have not done as thorough research as I have. I looked at government records on his citations and I reviewed them against DOD manuals and compared them to the citations of others in his service group and era.

His citations clearly lack any detail that is REQUIRED in describing citations for heroism whereas other citations follow the book in describing the specific acts of bravery and heroism that is required. He is the only one that sticks out as false. All others have clear descriptions and depictions of events that led to the awarding of citations for heroism.

His citations are phony. There’s not even a question.

Do the research as described above. If you do not see a clear case of phony citations, then you are like the left that plays up his hero status falsely.

When you do arrive at the only true conclusion that his citations are phony, then the next question is why has he allowed the leftist press to exalt his false ‘heroism’ for so long?

The answer is because he is ‘uniparty’ meaning he’s neither republican nor democrat. He’s whatever he has to be to retain power. He has no principles. The TRUTH is not in him.

Well, I certainly won’t need research to affirm that regarding his political career, McCain is not a republican and is best described as opportunist/uniparty.

I agree with you 100% he hasn’t been working for America in office, I despise his politics, but he didn’t have anything to do with the Forrestal fire except to get caught up in it.

I am a believer in blaming him for things he should be blamed for...his politics DEFINITELY fall into that category!

Great story but it’s not a “brutal rejoinder” it’s a non-sequitur to Spicer’s comments about the SEAL’s raid in Yemen. Has nothing to do whatsoever with McCain’s idiotic criticisms of the SEAL raid.
