TV Networks Fret as Midseason Shows Fail to Connect With Viewers
Hollywood Reporter ^ | 3/17/2017 | Micahel O'Connell

The year 2017 hasn't been forgiving to the broadcast networks. With a whopping 17 scripted launches since Jan. 1, nearly all new series are languishing with low ratings, even by today's modest standards. But that may not be entirely the new shows' fault: The root of midseason's problem, some say, is the middling fall that preceded it.

"In the past, midseason success was typically built on the foundation established in the fall," says Sam Armando, lead investment director at MediaVest-Spark, noting all but NBC (and sports-lifted Fox) are down this year. "Since only This Is Us popped in the fall, there just aren't any coattails to ride on."

It's not just network news that is stumbling.

Transgender show..Making History has the lead saying he would kill Trump or Hitler...black pandering remake of 24..Training Day loses its lead to a heart attack

sheesh..go figure why these might be a problem

This Is US..heart string puller that makes people feel good and cry, etc..is the only one making it.

YouTube.

It’s why Letterman quit.

Networks are GOING AWAY.

T-rex, the first flake of snow just dropped.

Another Katherine Heigl show bombed? I didn’t even know they’d given her a new show.

Gee, I wonder why that would be?

It couldn’t be because all of the new shows are chocked full of degenerate liberal “causes” like transgenderism, gay adoption, devaluing of Christianity, “white privilege” and other such things, could it?

Nahhhhhhh... we’re just all racist homophobic Islamaphobic bigots. And we’re all going to watch these shows just so we can be preached at about our evil ways.

It's not just network news that is stumbling.

Correct. It's the Media in general that is being turned off by the American people, especially Trump voters.

They are being boycotted, essentially.

Patriotic Americans shouldn't watch the Democrat and Media (but I repeat myself) shows, patronize their advertisers, or tolerate their endless heavy-handed polemics.

A choice is being given to the People. On it hinges the future of this Republic. This nation is either a limited constitutional republic, or it's a runaway Leftist mobocracy with no Natural Rights or the Rule of Law.

Choose wisely, Americans. Your lives depends on it, as well as those of your posterity...

Who wouldn’t want to watch “family shows” which have kids wearing bondage gear and transexual couples? Who doesn’t want to be lectured non stop on progressive liberal causes?

I dumped TV in 1997. I can not believe how much time it freed up. The first thing I did was become an accomplished bass player. But it also improved my relationships.

I still watch movies (we own quite a few, actually) but it’s a “lazy rainy day” sort of thing.

Descendents of the Sun is on Netflix and you tube is an extremely good tv show. It is Korean with subtitles. So far, no queers and no dykes. There is a hardbitten Special Forces Capitan vs a hard nosed surgeon

Its because they keep making propaganda instead of entertainment....

About the only new show I’ve seen an ad for that remotely looks like it might have some promise is the one with the chick from dharma and greg.. where she starts to date a guy with 3 kids, has no experience with kids and her imaginary friend returns...

I have no idea if the show will be any good or not, but its the only thing from a premise perspective I’ve seen that I would even remotely give a shot.

The attempt at a show based on sheldon as a child they have announced they are exploring, has cop rock/after Mash written all over that.....

There are a number of really good shows on cable. Legion and The Americans on F/X have been excellent, as have Humans and Walking Dead on AMC, and Homeland and Billions on Showtime. The best shows the big broadcast networks show are...likeable.

There is no such thing as “Family TV” on network television, anything they start out as family friendly, turns into gay, crossdressing propaganda soon enough

Along with the evangelism of the gay lifestyle, and any other perversity they can think of.

They toss out such bad stuff, it’s a wonder anyone watches.

You’ve got everything centered around what 1-2% of the populace buys into, and then they wonder why 98% of the public has something else to do when these shows air.

Good luck figuring it out Lefties. You’re doing everything perfectly by the Leftist book.

How’s that workin for ya?

As for HULA, Netflix, and the Amazon offerings, some of it is okay, and a lot of it is just beyond the fringe.

I gave blackish a shot... but like nearly everything I give a shot on network TV any more... sooner or later it decides to preach at me, instead of entertain me.... I forget what episode it was, I think it was after the stop don’t shoot nonsense they decided to get preachy... and that was that.
