In challenge to Trump, 17 Republicans in Congress join fight against global warming

Seventeen congressional Republicans signed a resolution on Wednesday vowing to seek "economically viable" ways to stave off global warming, challenging the stated views of President Donald Trump, who has called climate change a hoax.

Republicans Elise Stefanik of New York, Carlos Curbelo of Florida and Ryan Costello of Pennsylvania introduced the legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives, pledging to "study and address the causes and effects of measured changes to our global and regional climates" and seek ways to "balance human activities" that contribute.

Several Republicans who signed the resolution, which is non-binding, represent parts of the country most affected. Curbelo hails from Miami, where streets regularly flood at high tide due to rising sea levels.

An overwhelming majority of scientists say human activity - including the burning of oil, gas and coal - is the main driver of rising global temperatures. Most Republicans either dispute that or disagree that it is an urgent problem.

..."balance human activities"...

Translation: Totalitarian control of people's lives.

OK, I get it. These people are not "Republicans".

and seek ways to "balance human activities" that contribute.

..............................THAT is what this is all about. Balance human activities. I wonder who will win the war between sharia and the global warming types? Will the ones who really believe in the global warmning scam have a shocked look on their face right before sharia types behead them?

CO2 makes up .38% of the atmosphere. (Ask your average lefty, they don't know that.)

Human activity only affects 2% of the CO2 in the atmosphere.

How will taxing me and reducing my lifestyle change anything when the most populous nations continue to emit increasing amounts of plant food?

Climate has always changed as have CO2 levels. Who decided that the temp and CO2 levels prior to the Industrial Revolution were "perfect"?

If we really want to help future human kind we would figure out how to help the northern hemisphere survive the next glaciation.

Science doesn’t depend on consensus. Consensus implies you can disagree. Facts don’t care if you agree or not

CO2 makes up .38% of the atmosphere.

I am afraid you have way overstated the volume of CO2 in the atmosphere. It is only .03%.

Man made contributions to that .03% are about 3.225%.

Fools. The entire global warming concept is designed to limit and control economic activity. Clueless in DC.

No problem, FRiend. It’s hard to keep track of how utterly insignificant CO2 is. ;-)
