At 7:36 pm Tuesday night, Rachel Maddow tweeted “BREAKING: We've got Trump tax returns. Tonight, 9pm ET. MSNBC. (Seriously),” sending the internet into a frenzy of theorizing. Did Maddow have Donald Trump’s tax returns or just one of the Trumps’ tax returns? Could this be it, the tax return that would bring down the Donald? If this was it, why wasn't MSNBC cutting into its programming, instead of running a countdown clock to Maddow’s show? By 8:24, Maddow was tweeting that the tax return in question was Donald Trump’s 1040 from 2005. By 8:30, still half an hour before Maddow started airing, the White House had responded to the MSNBC report, saying that Trump had paid $38 million on income of $150 million that year. An hour later, about 20 minutes after The Rachel Maddow Show started, Maddow would confirm these numbers, turning her big scoop about Donald Trump’s long-missing tax returns into a cautionary tale about over-hype. “It’s been a little bit of a hullabaloo around here this evening, I apologize for being flustered,” Maddow said at the top of the hour, before confirming that her show had copies of Donald Trump’s federal tax returns, obtained by the reporter David Cay Johnston, to share with her audience. “In just a second we’re going to show you exactly what it is we’ve got,” she said, before launching, instead, into a 20-minute monologue. Maddow seemed uncharacteristically nervous as she wended her way though what could kindly be described as context and which I am unkindly describing as word salad, a long meander that was difficult to follow even without the distracting promise of a revelatory tax return at its end.

The speed at which they ran with this...only because it came from a Pulitzer-prize-winner is what amazes me. Only two pages...only from his federal return (nothing mentioned with the NY state tax)...and all from 2005 (12 years ago). It all had smell attached to it. It’s remarkable....about as fake as you can get, and they should have realized and asked...who really sent this to us?
And just when her ratings are starting to spike; even her fans (all 27 of them) were bitching about the oversell.
She committed a felony, but like all the rest of the elite crowd, she’ll skate without any consequences paid.

The unasked question: How did NBC get his tax return, and who should be prosecuted?
Rachel Maddow illegally released President Trump’s tax returns, and it will likely mean she’s going to prison. On top of prison, the tax return release was in total vein: it vindicated President Trump after years of media dragging him through the mud.

The administration will get around to it. They just need to get everyone on board so they can assign a good attorney to build an airtight case. Then you shutdown MSNBC.
But in the interim, I suggest we find out who MSNBC’s biggest advertisers are and launch a “Fire Maddow” campaign with a boycott.
I don’t like her, but she wasn’t the only one talking about Trump’s taxes lol.

It would be awesome if every IRS employ were rounded up and detained in a tent city somewhere as potential witnesses.
Such a response would go a long way toward curtailing activity of this sort.

Mad dog Maddow has only succeeded in maKing Trump look better to his base while Mad dog Maddow has only put her own life in jeopardy and needs to spend some time in jail .

Why so glum Rachel? You go from launching a 21st century Watergate and being the new Woodward and Bernstein to being blasted by your own fellow travelers on the left all in one night. Lefty implosions are becoming a daily occurrence!
