The US recruited worse men to work in science and intelligence than this guy. The second worst thing to come out of WW II was war crimes tribunals, right after the UN.
” tank commander at the bulge that executed Americans”
Joachim Peiper. The gun battle at his home in France(!) ended his life. Of course there are rumors he faked it and died in Germany later.
” who could face life in prison if convicted,”
-
Seriously ?
.
Tell them to F off until Poland stops protecting child predators (Roman Polanski).
The biggest problem we have in the US is all the uncaptured Nazis running around. /s
poor old dude...
if only he were a Jap... no one would care what he did.
Maybe he killed my great grandparents. And he deserved the firing squad 50-60 years ago.
At this point, 98 and senile, it’s not
Going to do any good punishing what he has now become, a helpless
I can’t with no knowledge or
Memory of what he has done. Maybe best
To convict
Him
In absentia and leave
How m
Alone for his final
Days. Toughie.
As I recall, one Walter Durante, of NY Slimes fame wrote in his reports from the Soviet Union that there was no such thing as Holodomor. The Slimes have been practicing fake news for a looong time.
That was Stalin’s and NKVD’s doing. Though they tried to pin it on the Nazis. Wrong guy.
There are no war criminals amongst the Victors.
Spoken with a growl and likely quaffing a brandy and smoking a cigar. I remember speaking to a European gentleman about the war As a child I saw the whole thing in England. He made this statement.
War is a crime, all war is a crime.
but this guy wasn’t a useful scientist!
If this guy indeed commanded an SS Unit, this is much different than the case of John Demjanjuk, whom I thought at the time should not have been punished, if he simply served as a guard. Demjanjuk basically didn’t have a choice since he was a captured Red Army soldier.
I believe you are thinking of Joachim Peiper.
If they wanted to really go after the Ukrainians that massacred Poles, they needed to go after the UPA-pigs.
And yet in Ukraine today they still celebrate their leader, Stepan Bandera.
I was in Vietnam and knew of a lot of murder going on, on both sides. I suspect it’s you who doesn’t know what you’re talking about.
I see many reasons not to prosecute.
dementia means he can’t properly understand charges nor defend himself from it. Maybe if he had his wits he could explain something the prosecution missed or mistook. It could be an injustice.
Odds of dying before end of trial are not small
What is point of “punishment” if person doesn’t understand what they are being punished for or even that they are being punished at all
Is this really best use of prosecution time and money
George Soros admitted on 60 Minutes to over 100 murders.
He turned in Jewish people to the Nazi’s just so he could sell their belongings. He should have been arrested for this and the riots he is financing around around our country.
He just doesn’t have the money that George Soros has.
