(CNN) The White House on Monday walked back a key point of President Donald Trump's unsubstantiated allegation that President Barack Obama wiretapped his phones in Trump Tower during the 2016 election.

Namely, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Trump wasn't referring to wiretapping when he tweeted about wiretapping.

bottom line: his tweet exposed that there is no “there” there when it comes to Trump colluding with the Russians. good on him! so let him say he planned it that way. fine with me.

With respect, I would say it’s the opposite.

You can’t MAGA without confronting what’s going on with the wiretap / Russia undercurrent. It is clear that Lynch and Obama set into motion a politically-motivated nested mechanism within the federal government to either impeach or neuter Trump. This is more than just one or two people, it’s enough to screw up the next two years.

One could argue you could just ignore the allegations as baseless and move forward, but there’s still a cancer within the government that needs to be removed. Otherwise, that apparatus will be there in perpetuity leaking phone calls, subverting elected government on any topic, Russia or otherwise.

Claiming “Wiretapping” by Obama changes the dynamic at exactly the time when it needed to be changed. Trump had to do something to counterbalance baseless claims, investigations, allegations, and press collusion by GETTING THEIR SKIN IN THE GAME. Now, the House is pressing the IC for documentation, and hopefully it forces the FBI and parties to be to fear oversight.

At this point, he simply has to fight back, even if he makes somewhat baseless accusations (for the moment) & say things which may even drown out his agenda.

"The President used the word wiretaps in quotes to mean, broadly, surveillance and other activities."

Wiretapping is a narrowly defined surveillance activity that involves tapping into "a telephone or telegram wire in order to get information," according to Merriam-Webster dictionary...

Aw, isn't that cute, the #fakenews journalists at CNN found a dictionary. How precious.

Guess what, Clymers? You're still losing. Bigly.

Any kind of eavesdropping is equivalent to wiretapping.

So how do you feel about what you posted?!

Wire tapped, monitored, intercepted, surveillance or whatever mean the same except with those who spend 24/7 lying about Trump!

"What a coincidence. The NYT didn’t mean wiretap either when they reported wiretap."

The irony here is just too much. The NY Times accused President Bush of spying on Americans in 2003 and were proven wrong. Yet, in 2016, we may have President Obama doing exactly that and the evidence for it provided by the very same NY Times. In Jan 2017, their front page said:

[Trump] put "wiretapping" in quotes for a reason.

Very good! Putting it in quotes is fake news media doesn't want to admit. For what other reason would the word be put in quotes? Like to hear Jake Tapper answer that question.

A story by the National Enquirer having JFK alive today in a nursing home is more believable than this crap.

The question is:Do Trump and Sessions?

Are they going to quit pursuing High Crimes by the previous leaders of the ‘deep state’?

I always thought President Trump meant it as electronic spying of some sort.
