President Donald Trump has more than the Democratic opposition to worry about with his proposed American Health Care Act. Conservatives are pushing hard against it, too, despite AHCA proponents' attempts to persuade members of the House Freedom Caucus with an ad campaign and some schmoozing in Washington.
"Right now, I think there is a charm offensive going on," Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., told CBS host John Dickerson on Sunday's "Face the Nation." "Everybody is being nice to everybody, because they want us to vote for this, but we are not going to vote for it."
Conservatives will fight President Trump's GOP healthcare agenda along with Democrats on the belief the proposed AHCA is merely Obamacare in another form.

The beauty dips that I didn’t realize beck was still on the air!
It’s all that Federal structure and agencies that the eunuchs of the Uniparty are protecting with Ryancare.
That is what gives Fedzilla power, control over all healthcare in America and access to all records.
Whatever gives Fedzilla power is what the attendants of Fedzilla in Congress will do.
Rino care goes absolutely nowhere. You said REPEAL socialized medicine NOT replace with other socialism. Free market — buy your own damned insurance— We didn’t not take you to raise!!
500 BILLION dollar increase in the HHS budget since 2012.
Rino care goes NO WHERE!! FREE MARKETS not communism!! Buy you own insurance or gon to the ER and wait with the illegals!!
Simply repeal Obamacare! How hard is that! Return healthcare to the free market as it should be. Return Medicare to those who worked and sacrificed to earn it.
It’s that simple.
I poured my heart and soul and (MUCH money) into supporting President Trumps nomination and subsequent election based on his many promises (especially his promise to repeal and replace Obamacare) and my strong belief that President Trump was different than every other elected official in my lifetime because I actually expected him to keep his campaign promises.
My only hope is that RyanCare is some kind of ruse for unknown political purposes, such as sinking Ryans ship or for buying time or something. Ill be surprised if RyanCare passes the House and stunned if it passes the Senate and done if President Trump signs it.
If President Trump does in fact try to tout Ryancare as the fulfillment of his campaign promise to repeal and replace Obamacare, then President Trump will lose the support of we who are is supporters and is finished as a President; the GOP would be finished as well. And so would our country.
I can forgive President Trump many things, including being unable to fulfill ALL of his promises, and especially those attempted fulfillments thwarted by opposition that cannot be overcome.
However, I will NOT forgive him if he accepts RyanCare as the fulfillment of his campaign promise to repeal and replace Obamacare. Id actually rather President Trump do nothing at this point and wait until the GOP has a filibuster-proof Senate in 2018 and then do it right, rather than accept counterproductive measures like RyanCare.
I am with you 100% on this, all of it.
I keep holding out hope that he is somehow just stringing that POS ryan along somehow... and will lower the boom on ryan and his POS plan at some point soon.
If he doesn't, and ends up pushing this through and signing it, I will wonder: is he so stupid to think that we would buy this crap as a fulfillment of a promise? or does he think that we are that stupid?
Would have been nice if Trump said get back to work.
Perhaps he knows this will never pass the senate
PERHAPS that is why Ted Cruz met with family twice last week.
I added others in case I’ve gone off the deep end and need to be told I require meds :)
Riiiight. Ryan is going to force little helpless Trump to sign this pos bill.
If only “principled conservatives” had fought “pos” Democrats on the ballot in 2016 instead of being AWOL for months we might have a few more GOP Senators and have no need “pos” bill.
BS. This plan repeals the mandate and the taxes. If you dont like it, opt out and pay for your own healthcare.
Sorry, it doesn’t do that. It just reduces them to zero and sends Trumpcare uninsured fine checks directly to the insurance companies via the 30% increase in premiums.
If this bill was so great there will be no need for this Gang of 8 style dissembling. This is a grab bag of goodies for the insurance industry and a CYA bill for POTUS/GOP Congress. Nothing more.
Here’s the problem ..the House Freedom Caucus supported Ryan being the speaker , and now they are screaming about Ryan ... I can’t stand Ryan , but if the Freedom Caucus can’t stand up to Ryan , they won’t be able to stop this ...
Its all that Federal structure and agencies that the eunuchs of the Uniparty are protecting with Ryancare.
That is what gives Fedzilla power, control over all healthcare in America and access to all records.
Whatever gives Fedzilla power is what the attendants of Fedzilla in Congress will do.
Exactly. I once sat in front of some NY State pols on a flight to Albany. They talked literally about “pots of money”. That’s really what this is all about. The beltway GOP want to manage the Obamacare “pots of money” and skim some for themselves.
You are exactly right ..the Levin/Beck crowd are trying to sabotage Trump at every turn ...
I keep holding out hope that he is somehow just stringing that POS ryan along somehow... and will lower the boom on ryan and his POS plan at some point soon.
Appears that Ryan and McConnell are holding the entire Trump agenda hostage to service their insurance industry donors. They are blackmailing Trump while having yet lifted a finger to advance his agenda. My bet is they never will. It will be one excuse after another why things can’t be done and Trump will not be in a position to engage in nuclear war with them due to the Dem-Media complex attacks.
One way or another, you should expect the legislation to be modified significantly before it arrives on the President's desk.
Senators Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and Mike Lee have all indicated it's not acceptable as currently constructed, and they alone are enough to block it in the Senate.
Furthermore, I'm sure that the President's chief advisor Steve Bannon is also going to be a strong conservative influence during this process.
Some here are falling into the trap of taking President Trump too literally with respect to his praise or "support" of the bill. Such positive statements are all part of his "art of the deal", something at which he has extensive experience and skill.
The President has repeatedly shown that he's always several steps ahead of where observers such as us think he is. We're just going to have to take a deep breath and watch what happens as this process works its way through the legislature.
If things get to an advanced stage, and nothing gets fixed, then his supporters can start panicking.
There can be no doubt that the President and the Congress are well aware of the political risks being taken. In my opinion, the risk of passing a bad piece of legislation is much higher than the risk of passing nothing at all. Who knows? It might be necessary to wait until after the 2018 midterms in order to get this done right.
I'm certain that President Trump is unwilling to alienate his base, and that's exactly what will happen if this bill is passed as currently written. Therefore I'm convinced that there's no cause for alarm as yet.
One thing for sure: there is too much jumping the gun going on. Let's evaluate the flaws in the legislation, make the President aware of our objections and criticism, and trust him to do what he promised. He has given us no cause to doubt him thus far, and he deserves our good faith until such time as he demonstrates otherwise.
All things considered, everyone needs to keep their powder dry and allow this process to play out...
LOL
I would have preferred Trump not get entangled with this.
Makes me wonder if that wasn’t the pressing issue for Ryan in the first place.
So many snakes back there...
Wow...I checked out your recent comments. Are you having fun in your current jihad against conservatives in Congress?
