Could just be something simple like the improper use of chemicals in the jacuzzi. Or perhaps some muriatic acid or something spilled while treating or cleaning it.

Hereabouts, a deposit is merely a fee. My son rented a small house for a year. It was a dump when they moved in with peeling paint and some bad wallboard. He is a bit of a handyman and replaced the wallboard, painted the walls resurfaced the wood floors, made the place look really nice. He took pictures on his first day and on his last. The landlord withheld the deposit. Bo went to small claims where he was told by the judge that perception of damage can be a subjective thing...claim denied.

Of course, it is possible that instead of using it to dispose of bodies, Bannon was using the Jacuzzi as a giant meth mixing vat.
The traces of acid would be consistent with ingredients used in the production of meth.

His aim would have been to serve the entire Florida meth market.
