Traces of platinum, a metal associated with meteorite impact, have been found at archaeological sites of the Clovis people across the US, suggesting that they were wiped out in a mini-Ice-Age triggered by the impact of an extraterrestrial object.
The Clovis people disappeared from North America about 12,800 years ago. Many of the large creatures they hunted – a total of about 35 species – went extinct at about the same time.

They are in their legends. Also a lot of tales of originating from a hole in the ground (or sky). Could have been leaving the fallout/impact shelters...

Yeah, the festive article about Clovis people is quite appropriate for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day holiday.
A meteor always comes in handy when the science just doesn’t add up.
The one fatal flaw in all these meteor caused a nuclear winter hypothesis is how in the hell did the meteor dust (which includes metals heavier than lead & gold) stay suspended in the atmosphere for centuries & millennia ?
It would all wash out in a manner of weeks if not days.

Interesting point. Or maybe there is another less visible “Meteor Crater” somewhere that syncs up with the events, better.
My money is on some sort of cosmic impact.
