EXCLUSIVE: FBI ‘Granted FISA Warrant’ Covering Trump Camp’s Ties To Russia

Two separate sources with links to the counter-intelligence community have confirmed to Heat Street that the FBI sought, and was granted, a FISA court warrant in October, giving counter-intelligence permission to examine the activities of ‘U.S. persons’ in Donald Trump’s campaign with ties to Russia.

Contrary to earlier reporting in the New York Times, which cited FBI sources as saying that the agency did not believe that the private server in Donald Trump’s Trump Tower which was connected to a Russian bank had any nefarious purpose, the FBI’s counter-intelligence arm, sources say, re-drew an earlier FISA court request around possible financial and banking offenses related to the server.
The first request, which, sources say, named Trump, was denied back in June, but the second was drawn more narrowly and was granted in October after evidence was presented of a server, possibly related to the Trump campaign, and its alleged links to two banks; SVB Bank and Russia’s Alfa Bank. While the Times story speaks of metadata, sources suggest that a FISA warrant was granted to look at the full content of emails and other related documents that may concern US persons.

"GOP leaders associated with the NeverTrump movement and what is known as the GOP “Mormon Mafia” hired a company named Fusion GPS in Washington DC to conduct “opposition research” against now President Trump in late 2015. ...

The calls and emails were intercepted without warrant under current FBI Counter-Intelligence authorizations.
The communications were recorded and attempts to identify the US person(s) on the lines were conducted.
The now famous call between Gen Flynn and the Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak was captured in this sweep. ..."

And when they learned the relationships/data they were purposely stirring up to catch Comey’s attention was unusable because Comey’s warrant application was denied, they hustled together the MI6 guy as a cover for their having disseminated data from the original taps.

Sounds like meddling in an election using foreign assets.

They don’t need a warrant to scoop anything up. They already are scooping it up. Then they want us to pretend they don’t listen. The truth is that they probably listen first and then ask for a warrant when they find something.

That tells me Obama felt someone would rat him out, so they got warrants to cover their actions.

That analysis makes sense. The ability to spy on us is not really new. What was revealed in the latest wikileaks is that CIA (and probably many other similar agencies all around the world) has tools to make a spying action appear to be the work of another government. They convinced Trump that Russia hacked Hillary’s server but I am nowhere near 100% convinced.

Yes, and courts (judges) no NOT like it if after the Court denies a motion, the the party desiring the motion simply “cleans is up,” not by curing/removing the actual problem, but to simply hiding the problematic part.

For example, had the government asked for a warrant for a building known as the Trump Tower, and the judge(s) wisely declined on the grounds that, absent an extremely compelling and overriding need, they were not gong to get into anything political, then the government went back to the same Court but another judge (set of judges) and asked for a warrant for 721 Fifth Avenue, New York City, NY, and gotten it, without disclosing the prior refusal. when it all came out, the Court would be VERY SERIOUSLY pissed.

If I was sitting on that Court, especially in the set of judges that approved the second application, the DOJ attorneys might well be facing a Bar complaint, possibly even for Fraud on the Court.
