San Francisco Seeks to Freeze Trump’s ‘Sanctuary City’ Cuts

The City of San Francisco sought an injunction Wednesday against President Donald Trump’s executive order to block federal grants to “sanctuary cities,” complaining the move could be devastating to the city’s bottom line. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, City Attorney Dennis Herrera asked a federal judge to freeze the order until a lawsuit challenging its constitutionality is resolved.

If “defendants strip all federal funds from San Francisco, the result will be ‘catastrophic,’” Herrera wrote in seeking an injunction in U.S. District Court, the Chronicle reports. “Under this cloud of uncertainty and budgetary sword of Damocles, San Francisco must adopt an annual budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2017.”

I’m extremely sick and disgusted that Demonrats and the LameStream media, but I repeat myself, are all for suing at each and every decision to see if it’s Constitutional. But when Obummer was actually shredding the Constitution, would scream like wild Banshees that any trying to stop the President were racist obstructionists.

Hypocrisy, thy name is Demonrat.

Without judicial fiats the left would be reduced to a group of screamers.

Sadly they will probably find some liberal POS judge to block it. Like the travel ban.

Liberals are going to do everything they can to disenfranchise everyone who voted for Trump.

We really need Gorsuch on the Supreme Court bench soon to return the court to 5 to 4 conservative. The liberals are all forum shopping and bringing these suits to quash the immigration executive order and now the sanctuary city executive order in the 9th circuit jurisdiction, the most liberal Federal appellate court in the land with 80 per cent of their decisions overturned when we had a 5 to 4 supreme court.

One can only wonder how San Fransissyco’s tourist dollars compare with a decade or so ago. I, for one, will NEVER go to the city by the bay ever again!

So the city knowingly breaks the law, and then asks the courts who are supposed uphold the laws to still let them off federal taxpayers money!!!

Just like the travel ban. These people will keep suing and suing in their friendly courts, where they pick their judge.

I really hate these bastards. They have never cared for the country, and only care about their political agenda.

Amen, the sooner we get Gorsuch on the bench the better so we can slap these smarmy pole smokers back into place.

Avoid downtown SF, it’s a liberal hell hole. As somebody coming from *Detroit* (of all place) I was *shocked*, the shear number of homeless, the prostitutes, people shooting up heroin on the sidewalks...this is their liberal utopia?

A man asked for money, I offered the take out food I had, he wasn’t interested - only wanted money. Apparently they get a weekly handout of money, it seems they have two activities; going to soup kitchens and spending their money on drugs. The policy just encourages a death spiral, it ensnares people instead of empowering them to find a way out.

I’ve never seen such pain on the faces of so many people.

Trump should have told the Seattle judge to stick his restraining order where the sun don’t shine. He allowed that defiant judicial overreach to stand, which opened the door to the left filing lawsuit after lawsuit to stop him from doing his legal, constitutional job. The left will completely gum up the works unless he makes a very bold move to assert his authority.

Republicans need to start backing up Trump and begin impeachment hearings on these judges.

Boo. Hoo. Why should the taxpayers from the sane states have to subsidize the Leftist insane states as they thumb their noses at US immigration laws??? Since the misfits of the Ninth Court will probably hand SF their usual “Get Out of Jail Free” card, hopefully Judge Gorsuch will be in place at the SCOTUS when this case reaches that level. In the meantime, there ought to be NO freeze with funds going to these scofflaws.

We really need Gorsuch on the Supreme Court bench soon

More than that, we need the President to stand firm and assert his legal, constitutional authority to do his job.

The law and the Constitution are clear. The President has certain powers that are long established, and beyond the purview of any court to question or rule upon.

The proper response to this judicial tyranny is to go before the people and explain to them that the court is exceeding its authority, and that their illegal injunctions and restraints will be ignored. The President must do this, or he'll have allowed the judicial branch to turn the presidency into little more than a ceremonial position.

[[complaining the move could be devastating to the city’s bottom line.]]

NO- what WILL be devastating to the city’s bottom line is the fact that the city REFUSES to abide by the law- The city has a choice to make- they can do away with their sanctuary city idiocy, or they can forego federal funds- noone is forcing them to choose to forego the funds-

Their idiotic argument is the same as a bank robber stating “The government telling me that they will stop my welfare checks if i don’t stop robbing banks will be a financial hardship on me- therefore the government has no right to demand I stop robbing banks
