LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Starbucks Corp's (SBUX.O) vow to hire thousands of refugees after President Donald Trump's first executive order that temporarily banned travel from seven mostly-Muslim nations appears to be hurting customer sentiment of the coffee chain.

Trump supporters have used Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites to call for a boycott since Jan. 29, when Starbucks Chief Executive Howard Schultz vowed to hire 10,000 refugees over five years in the countries where it does business.

Schultz in a letter to employees said the promise of the American Dream was "being called into question" and that "the civility and human rights we have all taken for granted for so long are under attack."

Hopefully, this sentiment will soon be reflected in Shariabuck’s bottom line.

They recently came out and said that store traffic was down and blamed it on crowding in the stores, an inability of customers to move through the lines efficiently.

How long will they be able to hide behind this?

Revenue is down because customers are dukeing it out to get to the counter. Right. Didn’t Orwell call that “newspeak” (or maybe doublespeak or even commiespeak, I can’t remember).

Starbucks coffee is probably the most overpriced product you can buy. Make you coffee at home for pennies a cup.

I refuse to patronize Starbucks. Now I’m afraid they will spit in the coffee....or worse! Be advised to stay away from that place!

Well Starbucks has stores in 70 countries and is not hiring illegal aliens, but legal refugees so I have no problems with them hiring refugees across the world.

Mickey-D, 7-11, mant gas stations, donut shops, MAKE IT AT HOME — there are many options to overpriced, burnt coffee.

So...their business is down because they have too many customers crowded into their establishments?

I actually used to buy Starbucks K-cups before the refugee comments. Now I will but anything but Starbucks.

Screw Schultz and Starbucks for bringing leftist politics into everything.

Spit in the coffee is bad enough. Think about thousands of islama-baristas who don’t wash their left hand fixing your latte.

That’s not cinnamon floating on top. yuck

McDonald’s has 99cent any size coffee and quite a few drinks and snacks that compete with Starbucks and Panera. JMHO, McDonald’s coffee is the best of the three.
