Thanks to all of you for pointing out the article by McCarthy on Crowley’s “plagiarism” and letting me see how the defense went.
OF COURSE they were trying to take her out. It is ghastly that in some way they succeeded (keeping her from the WH), just as she went through a horrible personal loss. Don’t get me wrong; I really like and admire her in everything I’ve seen her do and say.
When McCarthy explained that writers hold each other to a higher standard than the law does, that connected with me. I am relieved to see that most of the spots that CNN and other enemies called out were properly footnoted. However, the very few passages she lifted identically without footnoting met, to me, that higher standard of plagiarism. True, just a tiny bit in a large work of intelligent substance. Maybe out of lack of attention to a few details. But we don’t want to eat from a gallon of chocolate ice cream with a teaspoon of dog poop mixed in. Monica needs to never lift whole lines / passages again. And she needs to not be ashamed of making a still-legal mistake.
I am going to back to giving Monica Crowley the full and complete respect she deserves. I know she won’t get sloppy again like that. We all make mistakes. She is too valuable to hold her in any less than admiration. May Trump find a place for her in his second term. If she wants it. I like her on Hannity anyway, and we’d lose that.
I’m glad you’ve reconsidered. I see however that you went back to verify the footnotes to see which material possibly could have been plagiarized. Did you check the original books themselves? These people again are not above fabricating not just sentences, but whole paragraphs and whole books.
I think the mistake is actually in even checking. If the Left accuses, it’s better to dismiss out of hand. 100% of the time.
Also, if you watched the video above, these people are not out for truth, but “for blood” (per Crowley) and to not just delegitimize but to imprison Trump. She then says she is not trying to overstate things, but just be factual.
Hannity then says, “Do not even answer their questions, they can go to hell”.
So it’s a bit frustrating when I see conservatives taking the Left accusations seriously and feel like they have to investigate “to verify”.

I honestly separate the minor mistake of copying one line of text in a 300 page book from trying to remove a sitting President and hurt his administration choices. To me it is like my preschooler spilling Cadbury mini eggs on the floor and a guy with a gun trying to break into my house.
But still the kid must clean it up and be more careful next time. ;)

I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree. As the thread says, “This is a war”. In a war, you don’t nitpick whether some on your side are all behaving correctly.
They may be unnecessarily violent, they may steal food, etc. Doesn’t much matter to me as long as they’re good at kicking enemy ass.
I agree. We are in a war. I will gladly fight alongside Monica Crowley, or behind her as she is so eloquent.
