FBI Director James Comey was incredulous after President Trump claimed former President Barack Obama wiretapped him during the presidential race, according to a new report.
Comey was concerned Trumps allegations would make the FBI look bad, a person familiar with the matter told CNN Monday.
[Comey feels] institutionally he has to push back on this, CNNs source said, citing the magnitude of Trumps accusations and Comeys certainty they are untrue.
It was reported over the weekend that the FBI had asked career personnel at the Department of Justice (DOJ) to publicly dismiss Trump's allegations, which so far has not happened. A U.S. official CNN that Comey was aware of the talks between the FBI and DOJ but did not participate in them.
[Comey] might come out and say only time will tell, but right now [the FBI and DOJ] should be in the exact same place and theyre not, the person familiar with the matter told CNN Monday.
Does he know of possibility there might be a confrontation and be fired by the president? Sure, the source added of Comey. "Does he worry about it? No.
Comey is reportedly frustrated that the DOJ has not pushed back against Trump's claims and is looking for a way for the Justice Department and the FBI to dispute the allegations.

Id like to watch Mark Levin and Comey face to face
Id do pay per view
****
That would be awesome! Me too.
More junk news from CNN, the CIA PR newscenter
No kidding. Comey and Lynch did a good job of making the FBI look bad this summer over the Clinton mess. I am not sure how much President Trump could do to make them look worse or more politicized in my view.
Incredible find! Thanks to Kabar!
How is the DOJ an ememy of Comey and Trump?
Sessions is now the head of the DOJ, why would Comey play games with him?
Sessions has TWO guys at Justice who are his as of now.
Just think about that!
The DOJ has only had Sessions there for a very short time. He has not been able to get his own team in there yet.
Could be very accurate. Trump is keeping Comey around for some reason. Comey is so compromised that he will do whatever he is told.
Dang he makes sense!
Great post - thanks.
If I said that “I flew from the west coast to New York”,
does that mean that I grew wings? Maybe, I was the pilot?
Grain of salt. . .

I reviewed the book after I read it, so I won't review it again. Anyone who might be interested can see what I wrote here: https://www.amazon.com/review/create-review/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_wr_but_top?ie=UTF8&channel=glance-detail&asin=1621576418#
Klein also stated on FNC yesterday that he believes Trump's tweets were fueled by Comey.
There are a number of problems with this theory, too numerous to go into. First: Comey was certainly frustrated with the way in which Lynch used the Eastern District of New York (her old base) in Brooklyn to thwart Comey's investigation. No question. But even though denied access to a Grand Jury for either the Clinton Foundation or the email scandal, Comey still permitted a number of questionable practices to go forward, over which the FBI had absolute control:
On the plus side, it's pretty clear that Comey tried to damage Hillary. And... so what?
In the instant case, he might well be funneling information to Trump. However, please note that contrary to the claims made by Klein on FNC, there is no need to believe that Comey told Trump anything. All we know is that they met. We also know that Mark Levin laid this case out thoroughly on Friday night, entirely on a chain of evidence based on open source material.
There is no reason to believe that Comey told Trump anything he did not already know. They is no reason not to believe that Comey told Trump there was no "wiretap." We simply don't know.
We also don't actually know what Comey has said about this, despite all the stories beginning yesterday afternoon, because all reports to the contrary notwithstanding, not a single story about Comey and his supposed desire to push back on Trump contains a direct quote from Comey.
There is no official word from the DOJ. There is no official word from the FBI. And there is no statement from James Comey himself. All that has been reported is: "senior officials say the FBI Director is really pissed."
#FakeNews.
I think the best understanding of Comey is that he is not on anybody's side except his own. I think he did what he did with Hillary he did because he knew he could not let her off Scott free, and the DOJ wouldn't let him indict her. I think what he is doing now is simply trying to point the finger of blame for what may very well be a felonious abuse of our intelligence/counter intelligence apparatus is some direction -- any direction -- but his own.
Comey is probably the one who signed the FISA wire tap warrant.
Why would Comey not talk with his boss, Jeff Sessions before he leaks
to CNN?
Me thinks Comey is knee deep.
Was one of the reasons that Clapper wanted his scalp that Admiral Rogers refused to share unvetted SIGINT with other agencies more agreeable to the White House?
Did 0bama sign the directive allowing the NSA to share unvetted data with other Federal agencies as a way of neutering Rogers without paying the political price of forcing him to resign?
NSA's account of this before Congress is going to be very interesting, indeed.
These people lie for a living. They are supposed to be Trump’s liars.
Maybe Comey doesn’t want to see his life end in a little park in Washington DC.
Even if he is somewhat honest, he’s surrounded by swamp alligators who smell blood.
No! And that is actually the problem: they are supposed to be our liars. And the fact that they saw themselves as belonging to the personality of a particular President (BH0) or to the interests of a particular ideology, instead of their Country, is why all of this was possible.
This is totally off-topic, but I just inherited a 3’... Rose of Sharon. Double purple. Althea...Ardens. In centex, our full sun is twice what most people would call inferno in Summer. I’m thinking this guy only needs about 6hrs direct sun...?
Correct, a good half day should do them well.
The Hill has little credibility.
Isn't that kind of like a prostitute getting caught in flagrante delicto with a john, worried about looking like a...well...prostitute?
