Actually this isn’t the bullet train (though it does tie in with it). It’s a line that’s been running between SF and San Jose forever. Their problem is there just aren’t that many people who commute between to two cities, and driving is faster anyway due to all the stops along the way.

So exactly what are the savings to go electric and how much is saved every year...

It's all a fake-out. There are no savings, only massive amounts of spending. Local politicians made a bunch of noise about converting the diesel Caltrans trains to overhead electric wires, with the politically correct nonsense of clean energy.

Problem is, the trains are already electric. The diesel engines on the trains create electricity to drive the electric motors on the wheels of the trains. The trains are already hybrid. And the electricity is created locally on the train, and not wasted by resistance on overhead wires from hundreds of miles away. So the existing trains are efficient already.

The fake-out is that the money was diverted into building new train stations, new overpasses and tunnels while they're converting to overhead electric wiring. Let's save money by spending tons of it!

Mr. Trump just released the brakes on “the train to nowhere”:

Disappointing, this would have make a good little start on reducing the $475 billion yearly deficit and not add to the $20 trillion debt. But nooooo!!

Which Amendment to the United States Constitution explains that Electrified Trains are a Right?

Is it hidden somewhere like Abortion and Gay Marriage?
