I recall reading where anything a president says in a speech is, or becomes “policy”. (Everyone wanted Reagan to leave the “tear down this wall” out of his speech, and his final typed copy had it gone again. But he penciled it in as he was riding to the speech!) For this reason I think that Trump needs to be careful with his twitter account, and also for this reason I hope this will become policy - and that she will be investigated.

Wherever you read that, you should never go there again.

It was in Peggy Noonan’s book “What I saw at the Revolution” when she was one of Reagan’s speech writers. I know she has taken on some liberal views of late, but it was a very interesting book. I’ll have to find it and review that section.

But - I do recall that every speech had to be reviewed by all of the cabinets that may have something to do with the speech if the president was going to talk about monetary policies, etc. And perhaps it wasn’t “official” policy - but it was something to be taken seriously. Something that we at home will pay attention to, and foreign nations will also follow.

Anyway, they would redo the speech, run it by Reagan, get it reviewed by the numerous other folks (econ, defense, state department, etc.). Every time somebody (State?) would take out the line about “tear down this wall”, and every time Reagan would add it in again! Of course he had the last word!!

While not every speech will bring the same rallying cry, some do. I think the line with “tear down this wall” was one of those, and very important in hastening the fall of the U.S.S.R. It gave people hope. Just like “build the wall” helped get Trump elected. (And while “build the wall” is great in a speech, I think that a very good dual fence will be more feasible to construct in many areas and just as effective.)

No, it hasn’t. Media is in full cover up mode tonight. Trump was right - Breitbart has a good article here:

Trump Tower was wiretapped - private property/citizen wiretapped. First order for wiretap was denied - second one narrower was approved by a judge - I’m sure a lefty.

Worse than Watergate - some Republicans better develop some backbone. Sedition and treason charges need to be handed out. I think this explains the timing on the Sessions attack - he shouldn’t have recused himself from non-existent incidents. The Democrats are terrified - they must have some pretty bad stuff they are afraid will be uncovered.
