Moonlight wins Best Picture at Oscars after shocking La La Land mix-up

In the most shocking mix-up in Oscars history, Moonlight won best picture at the Academy Awards — but only after presenter Faye Dunaway announced La La Land as the winner, setting off mass confusion inside the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

“I want to tell you what happened,” co-presenter Warren Beatty explained after the mix-up was revealed. “I opened the envelope, and it said ‘Emma Stone, La La Land.’ That’s why I took such a long look at Faye and at you. I wasn’t trying to be funny.”

“Well, I don’t know what happened. I blame myself for this,” Kimmel joked after the moment. “Let’s remember, it’s just an awards show. I mean, we hate to see people disappointed, but the good news is we got to see some extra speeches. We have some great movies. I knew I would screw this show up, I really did. Thank you for watching. I’m back to work tomorrow night on my regular show. I promise I’ll never come back. Good night!”

Speaking after the mix-up had been rectified, Moonlight director Barry Jenkins said, “Very clearly, very clearly in my dreams this could not be true. But to hell with my dreams. I’m done with it because this is true. Oh my goodness.”

He added a note of praise to his La La Land opponents: “And I have to say it is true. It’s not fake. We’ve been on the road with these guys for so long. My love to La La Land. My love to everybody. Man.”

After the Oscars, PricewaterhouseCoopers — which tabulates the Oscar votes — released a statement apologizing for the flub: “We sincerely apologize to Moonlight, La La Land, Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, and Oscar viewers for the error that was made during the award announcement...

I was surprised La La Land was even in contention. Moonlight hit a double on the SJW meter; gay black men. La La Land starred two white people cultural appropriating Jazz from African-Americans.

There are three possiblities:

1. Faye Dunaway simply assumed La La Land would win, and announced it - but this is unlikely. Not only is she an experienced actress and knew hundreds of millions of people were watching, but she knows how to read scripts.

2. Faye Dunaway was told or given the info that La La Land had won prior, and she thought reading the envelope was a formality.

3. Faye Dunaway knew the Oscars had switched Moonlight as the "winner" at the last moment, and she decided to sabotage the whole shebang.

During the 2015 Miss Universe pagant, the wrong name was read, but there were two names on the card.

Not so here:

It is the “Trump Effect,” and covering his back all the while is the Lord Almighty. I am still pondering this other amazing video that was posted a few days back on the forum lending credence to what we have been witnessing since President Trump first answered the call.

To think a remake of Singing in the Rain as a tribute to Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds is taken by some black homosexuals. How perfect for Hollywierd.

I think if you made a Venn diagram of those who watched the Daytona 500 yesterday and those who watched the Oscars - there would be zero interface.

A Staged Hollywood publicity stunt to end all publicity stunts.

Staging stunts-—this is what they do for a living, for God’s sake.

And never forget these are the world’s best actors onstage in front of the cameras they live for ..... pretending they’re reading off cards.

Beatty’s fake pause...chirpy Dunaway’s chiming in act......then the show’s producers ready and waiting in the wings to storm in w/ the right card.

Caustic social critic—Camille Paglia-—had it right. The grandeur of the awards is gone.

So they had to do something to get attention.

Just good business; blacks are among the few remaining segments of the population hooked on TV and movie screens. Marketers love them; they let them continue operating with a 1990s model instead of having to move with technology.

A guy who manages one of the local businesses made a similar observation to me one day, telling me that if it weren't for the influx of urban blacks, he'd be left to rely on the very elderly...who count their pennies.

I hope to see the day that Hollywood and their entire industry fails. It seems all the Academy Awards is these days is knee-service to BLM. Then again, since they’re all a bunch of leftist idiots, they surely enjoy it.

Coming up next year... the heart-stopping movie on how the “Best Picture” Academy Award was almost denied to the rightful winner.

In 2019, we can look forward to the sequel.

In 2022, we can look forward to the reboot / remake, this time with an all-transgender cast.
