From Politico:
“My fear is that the many Republican candidates so split the vote that we wind up with two Dems in the runoff. We need to unite before the April special election behind a Republican candidate.”
The candidates that have reached out to me have the same concern. A friend of mine always frets this in a large race. I hate that the dems, in a way, take the race from the public square with backroom decisions. That said, if you have the right messenger; with the right message; managed in the right way, you win not matter what.
You are spot on regarding turnout in off year elections.
It looks like each candidate has +/-, but of the top 3 contenders:
Karen Handel has name recognition and the election cycle is short. Not much time for the others to gain recognition.
Justin Hill has the largest constituency, but I hear he is not well liked by them. On the other hand most folks will vote “their guy” like him or not. :-)
Dan Moody can self-fund, is respected locally and State-wide in political circles due to his 8 years as a State Senator.
Also, short cycle = big bucks.
I’m in 5th Cong Dist. Last I heard Laz is also.
We need FReepers (and other good people) in 6th to get involved.
Judson Hill not Justin Hill.
Voter fraud is hard in our state. We require photo Id.
And North Fulton is not Fulton. It's conservative. You know that.
I saw what looked like Establishment money going to Gray. Big signs, carried by one of the Establishment types, in the last caucus.
You better double-check on Laz. I hear he gets around :-)
Listen to Eric Erickson on WSB and whoever he hates the most will be the best choice.
Yea, this is something to watch. The first filings should come out next week so we can see where the money is flowing from. BIG signs everywhere. Before Price was confirmed. To date I have received two mailers from Gray and one from Moody. Yea, there is money there.
You know better than I to watch who gets the Chamber of Commerce money. Brandon Beach decided not to run so they will take their money somewhere.
I do know that after Moody sold his business he began using that money to fund small businesses due to the fact that the Obama administration made it hard for them to get loans. That was a win-win.
Full disclosure, I personally know many of the folks running and have, or have not, worked on their past campaigns.
Looking at a district map, I *think* he is in the 5th, but if he lived across the street, he’d be in the 6th.
“Listen to Eric Erickson on WSB and whoever he hates the most will be the best choice.”
Ain’t that the truth!
When I read that 500 people showed up at a citizen-services meeting in Greensboro, GA to shout down congressional staffers, I knew that deranged Democrats were involved. Many who showed up were apparently from the People’s Republic of Athens.
Listen to Eric Erickson on WSB and whoever he hates the most will be the best choice.
I’m in the 5th.
I’m in 9th. Point me where I need go.
Most of Gwinnett where we live is in the 7th dist. The most conservative in GA. Tom Price’s dist is also pretty conservative.
Since redeistrictinf it is less so. DeKalb and North Fulton are a mix leaning left
Yeh DeKalb is troublesome.
For now - Cumming has the illegal alien disease unfortunately.
Karen walks on shaky ground on several issues.
Some of those came to light in her failed Gubernatorial run.
She’s better than a Dem like McCain is better than Warren.
