Why the Christian Right Shares Trump’s Affection for Putin
NY Mag ^ | December 13, 2016 | Ed Kilgore

Posted on 02/25/2017 11:10:06 AM PST by WilliamIII

There are all sorts of theories about Donald Trump’s affinity for Vladimir Putin’s Russia, ranging from shadowy business dealings with Putin or pro-Putin entities, to Russia’s alleged material aid in promoting Trump’s presidential candidacy, to the personal affinity between two men who yearn for recognition as world-historical figures. A related question is why so many Republicans — who four years ago were cheering Mitt Romney’s prophecies of a new Cold War struggle with Russia — have accepted Trump’s Russophilia.

Fake news. They say this sort of stuff amongst themselves and think this is how the world really is. They thrive on self-flattery and slander everyone else.

Yeah, Putin is a better friend to the USA than Ed Kilgore and his Communist buddies.

I don’t share an “affection” for Putin.

I just don’t care about him. This whole Russia nonsense is a bunch of made up garbage by the left to discredit Trump.

The DNC was hacked, but whether or not Russia was behind it, can anyone seriously tell me that that’s WHY Hillary lost?

Because Putin is being used as a foil for the expansion of NATO ABM missiles to the borders of Russia by the fascist globalist Wall St. and City of London financial oligarchy with the aim of provoking WWIII and the bombing of humanity back into a feudal stone age where the oligarch’s favorite game of Nazi “War Lord” can be played ‘till they puke.

Comeback question: why are so many leftists who applauded Barky’s “the 80s want their foreign policy back” now sounding like zealous members of the John Birch Society?

It’s not an “affection” for Putin. It is Christian hopefulness that Russia is taking its place as a leader in the world that will protect orthodox Christianity in a post-modernist world.

Exactly, I don’t see Russia, with it’s negative birth rate and fumbling toward capitalism and religious reawakening as a threat.

Pretty sure they face the same Islamist threat we do.

The left needs a foreign threat other than Islam and this is the best they could come up with. I’m really tired of their maim and frame politics.

Everybody who is anybody hacks everyone. I ask Dim friends, neighbores (!) “What does it mean, “Putin hacked the election?” And of course I’m met with blank stares. No one even asks about what was revealed about crooked Hillary.

Then I remind them one of the reasons Trump was elected is that he knows how to NEGOTIATE. How can he possibly negotiate with Putin if he goes in firing both barrels of vilification at him?

More blank stares. And this is a supposedly Republican majority town.

What is it with the left’s obsession with Putin? and why are they so hell bent to start WWIII?

Must be their love with all things Islam...

Putin and Russia also refuse to be bullied by the militant homosexual agenda lead by the degenerate Human Rights Campaign.

That’s good enough for me.

“Putin and Russia also refuse to be bullied by the militant homosexual agenda lead by the degenerate Human Rights Campaign.”

Russia has the highest rate of abortion in the world.

They are just trying to get every one sided up on one side or the other so they will have something to write about.

If what some one does seems fair or right to me i will say i agree, it makes no difference who it is or what party they belong to.

I do not like the democrat party but that does not mean that i am going to disagree with any thing they say just because they are a democrat.

The same goes for Putin, i agree on his view of the queers, but i do not know enough about his views on the Church to have an opinion.

I wasn’t aware that President Trump has an affection for Putin. Did they intercept a Valentine’s Card or something?

That’s precisely the issue. The very first falling out Obama had with putin was over homosexuality.

No, that would be China that has 3 times as many as Russia. Next is Vietnam, followed by us, and then Ukraine.

But the Russian rate is way down from the old days and the government there is aggressively promoting families and babies. They even made a stay home and get pregnant holiday. We sell baby parts and have mass production abortion rallies. We are in a glass house on that issue when it comes to the direction government is pushing.

Apparently, you’ve never seen the FR Borscht Brigade in action. If the FRBB is Right, and Christian, then there definitely is an affinity for that specific reason.

Christians love the absoluteness of Divine power and authority.

We will always gravitate towards a man (men are featured in the Bible) that exercises power and authority if we believe it is a righteous man for a righteous cause.
