How a 16-year-old took down Milo
Julia closely follows political news from her home in Canada, with a deep interest in American politics. She has been particularly alarmed by the recent rise of Yiannopoulos and others like him. So as soon as she heard Yiannopoulos would speak at CPAC, she was appalled.
Then an old moment popped in her head. She remembered hearing an obscure podcast, in which Yiannopoulos defended the idea of “13-year-olds” having sex with “older men,” arguing that child molestation provided a “sort of ‘coming of age’ relationship” for teenagers.
Her memory was right. She found the July 2016 clip.
She didn’t think she’d have much luck spreading the news herself with her small Twitter following, so she contacted a conservative outlet to get the story out. She figured a liberal outlet would have less credibility among CPAC followers.
She landed on the previously not-very-well-known conservative blog Reagan Battalion, which, after a bit of back and forth, tweeted out the video — leading not just to CPAC canceling Yiannopoulos’s speech, but to Simon & Schuster pulling his already controversial book deal and his resignation from Breitbart.
“I thought it would only get, like, 200 retweets,” Julia said. “I had no idea that it would blow up to the extent that it did.”
It ended up at thousands of retweets.

There were rumors at least over the weekend that the media had plans to unleash these videos which they had been sitting on for months. Those rumors came true on Monday just as predicted, using videos that were publicly available and extremely well known to literally hundreds upon hundreds of thousands of people who had watched the interviews on Youtube.

Exactly, they do not sell a whole lot of papers or get many hits if they publish a story about a blogger with two dozen followers.

Because he was certainly more successful than anyone else on the college campuses. And he was brave and told the truth.
Um hmmm. Something doesn’t sound quite right about this story.
Because Milo actually did something to fight against politically correct censorship, and helped generate significant support among young people, unlike you, who as far as I can tell hasn't done a thing but spew offensive comments.

That said, denying this ridiculous and obviously false story isn't the same thing as celebrating Milo.
THANK YOU for posting BOTH those statements by Milo; I saw him deliver them in a press conference/public statement just yesterday. I have had a sinking feeling in my stomach for quite awhile that Milo was more likely even than Trump to crash and burn, long before the relentlessly engineered attempt to bring that about for Trump was ever likely to happen. Milo is waaaaaaaay beyond his critics,(just watch the numerous discussions on youtube between him and any manner of intellectual opponents. He’s beyond them intellectually and doesn’t spout cliches, and that’s one of the things they HATE about him. ANOTHER is the incongruity of a GAY man saying these things , stealing the thunder from the kind of idiot orthodoxies we are used to hearing from the Gay movement, AND that he is ALSO a Trump supporter-—both these things are felt as a confounding slap in the face to all those who have been looking for a target to “take care of” while they’re working on the larger project of getting rid of Trump. I believe both those statements, taken together, both explain and acquit this highly individual individual that is Milo Yiannapolis. And the fact is, there are a whole lot of actual COMEDIANS currently out there who have said stuff even more “offensive” than Milo has, even taking whatever they want to out of context, and applying self-serving editing to it. Check out the material of Trump-hater Louis CK sometime,if you haven’t already. Milo has not always been wise in picking his battles (Leslie Jones from SNL???) and he also hasn’t been wise in assuming some of his listeners would “get” his jokes and appreciate his level of wit, let along grasp where he’s coming from. But having said all that, his message is strong, and clear, and he is one brave man, gay or otherwise.And yeah, his original publisher may have rescinded the offer to publish, and taken back their advance....but his book WILL be published. Those who want to destroy him? It’s their turn to crash and burn.He’s the one with the backbone, which has been honed over the years, every time he’s been attacked by the new domestic cadres of Mao’s Red Guard.
