Along a bank of the Maumee River, across the street from Maumees Riverside Cemetery, friends and relatives of a 17-year-old Maumee High School senior who was fatally shot gathered Thursday to remember him. Collin Doyle was the second teenager killed in Toledo this week. Cethus Manning II, 19, was killed in his vehicle Tuesday. Collins death was ninth homicide victim in the city this year. Toledo hasnt seen so many slayings in the first two months of a year in at least 10 years. Those willing to be interviewed among the more than 100 at the vigil recalled Collin Doyle as a goofy, loyal friend. If you needed to smile or laugh when youre down, all you had to do was turn to Collin, Hayli Palmer, a friend of Collin, said. Collin died in ProMedica Toledo Hospital about 7½ hours after he was shot Wednesday night from a single bullet to the torso, the county coroners office said.

Let me guess...Black on Black?
There is a link to the article, not that it should matter but he was a very nice white kid who was shot in the back, through the trunk while in a car.
No. Doyle was white. Most likely black on white, but Doyle was friends with black kids.
25 large?
There’s a lot to this story that’s not in that article.
Not likely to be SOCMOB (Standing On Corner, Minding Own Business).
It is a sad side effect of the relatively warm winter.
Cold weather keeps the gang bangers indoors. Warm weather lets them get out and kill people.
reads like a drug deal ripoff. There is a video and I’m guessing it will eventually be released, so I probably should shut up now.
I’ll admit to being a little torn on these rampant shooting reports. If the “right” people are getting offed, it might not be something to oppose, at least not right away,
... as long as they don’t get to keep voting.
Just have to ask why these Maumee kids were in West Toledo?
why do so many of these urban types just have so many guns?....
see, they ain't obeying the law....big surprise...
“reads like a drug deal ripoff.”
Something like that, or just plain robbery.
“Collin and another teenager were shot while inside a vehicle by someone in another vehicle whom they or two others they were with apparently knew.”
That was a lot of words to try to disguise the fact that there were four guys in the car. Up to something...
Good question. Holland and South Toledo buffer the two (Maumee & West Toledo), don’t they? Although Ottawa Hills is considered to be West Toledo.
“Just have to ask why these Maumee kids were in West Toledo?”
I’m not familiar with Ohio geography/demography to know. Would it be a good place to get drugs, poontang?
West Toledo covers a huge area (and seems to keep pushing further west). The University of Toledo is in “West Toledo,” uppity Ottawa Hills is, too, and I believe the only mall remaining is considered to be in West Toledo. Wide range of neighborhood types.
It is, however, north of Maumee and there is Holland and South Toledo in between the two.
Toledo Public has many, high schools, none to which I would send my kids if I had them.
I am originally from Toledo, born and raised. Maumee area was a very nice middle to upper class section of Toledo. I had an apartment over by Sylvania and Berdan in my early adult years. Was middle class area, hardly any crime.
Unfortunately, West end and Maumee areas are being taken over by criminals from South and East Toledo.
Toledo is like a mini Detroit now- and it’s sad because when I grew up there it was very nice city, mostly Union/factory worker town but was a good place to raise your family.
Yes they do. I was raised in South Toledo not far from Anthony Wayne Trail which runs into Maumee. Ottawa Hills is considered West end, that is where the really rich people lived.
Ohio Ping!!!
