When CNN first went on the air Ted Turner declared that it would broadcast nonstop until the end of the world. He meant that LITERALLY. There was a tape made before it signed on that is "on hold" and scheduled for official broadcast "when the end of the world is confirmed". Here it is, it was leaked a few years ago.

I have a college acquaintance who was in the initial group of CNN staffers. Like Ted Turner he’s an incredible leftard blowhard, unable to hold rational discussions or consider competing sources of information. The idea of those kinds of people controlling our news is terrifying.

I feel ya’! Torture. I have to go to the dentist later and luckily my dentist has no TV but this is the type of place where one can get stuck with CNN blaring.

I learned to be bold and figured out how to turn it off in hospital waiting areas when our daughter had a bone marrow disease and we spent a lot of time in hospitals (she is all better now; a college freshman).
