DHS To Expedite Deportation Proceedings By Not Using Judges

With immigration courts reaching a record backlog in 2016, Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly ordered Monday that illegal immigrants who have been in the U.S. for less than two years should be allowed to be deported without a court hearing.

Kelly signed two memos Monday that made significant changes to the nation’s immigration policy. They ordered the immediate construction of a border wall, expanded the amount of local police who will enforce immigration law, and put every illegal immigrant — excluding those protected under President Obama’s executive amnesty — at risk of deportation.

Condemnation of the plan by pro-immigration activists and Democratic politicians was swift. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a statement Tuesday, “By targeting those without serious convictions, those who have merely been charged with offenses, or those recent arrivals — including unaccompanied children — who have posed no safety threat to our neighborhoods, the President has chosen the politics of division over our nation’s safety.”

Yes. There are also 118 federal judgeships vacant at the moment. They are Trump’s to fill. The Senate should set up a fast track where they spend fifteen minutes talking to each that Trump’s team submits, and then confirm them. Fill them all in a few weeks and there is nothing the Dims can do about it since it only requires 51 votes.

Then break up the Circuit Appeals courts that are huge like the 9th, expand the number of judges on those appeals courts and stack them with young constitutionalist judges. Restructuring the courts requires Congress, unfortunately.

If they have no criminal record, Im not for deporting these kids. I have tremendous respect for you Doug but disagree on this one.

That’s okay. Here’s my thinking.

Mom and dad illegal are ripe for deportation.

The kids were born here by design for this very reason.

Should we give mom and dad a pass, or should we make the kids parentless and homeless?

IMO, the kids need to leave with their parents.

We did not cause this. Good old mom and dad caused this.

We would merely be enforcing our immigration laws.

Mom and dad played the game and lost.

The rules were there to prevent tis sort of thing.

I don’t think we have an obligation to consider their interests, when they never considered ours.

No. Just the opposite.

They always project, don't they? That claim better fits obama.

I guess I’m taking a more political view. That view being the GOP members of Congress will cave if they get too much pressure (why wouldn’t they; they’ve caved for decades).

Anyhow, moving out the dreamers will mean nothing gets done because GOP congress will turn on Trump.

An overwhelming percentage of the public, including liberals, agrees with deporting those with a criminal record (less the original crime of entering illegally).

Go with that support and get what can be obtained. That is my pragmatic position.

Thank you for your response.

While I don’t advocate for going after kids in school, undoubtedly there are going to be a lot of them with parents who will be deported.

What do we do with the kids?

They have to go with their parents.

I understand your pragmatic approach, and it does have it’s points. This isn’t a big driving area of my focus, but reality being what it is, the issue will come up, and I have to side with the law, and keeping kids with their parents.
