This center completely misses the point. Blacks use "ebonics" not because English is racist, or because they can't speak proper English. They can speak proper English just fine, except for some inner city kids with a bad education. They speak ebonics simply because they want to.

Blacks enjoy having their own subculture, in music, in language, in art, and other things. Which is perfectly fine. A lot of great music was created by blacks not playing "white" music, but developing their own, as an example.

If this center forced whites to speak ebonics, the only thing that would happen is that blacks would abandon ebonics and do something else, because the whole point of ebonics is to have some distinct to themselves. The center needs to quit "fixing" things that aren't broken.

Walter Williams has said the same thing.

When he was growing up in the 1940s, he and his friends spoke in jive, or hip-hop, or whatever slang was called at the time.

He said: we knew damn well how to speak proper English.

We just didn't feel like it.
