SHANGHAI (Reuters) - China will suspend all imports of coal from North Korea starting Feb. 19, the country's commerce ministry said in a notice posted on its website on Saturday, as part of its efforts to implement United Nations sanctions against the country.

The Ministry of Commerce said in a short statement that the ban would be effective until Dec. 31.

The ministry did not say why all shipments would be suspended, but South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported last week that a shipment of North Korean coal worth around $1 million was rejected at Wenzhou port on China's eastern coast.

OUCH!!! That’s the jugular for the Norks. I guess China is somewhat bothered that their huge cities are now in North Korean range.

Hopefully Trump puts an end to that regime.

Sometimes they beg SK for cash, grain, oil, whatever.

And Da Gummint there does give in and give it to them; they ran the numbers from the West Germ/East Germ integration and blanched at the expense.

In fact most SK experts believed that SK/NK integration would be **500%** more expensive.

So many government people there think just keeping NK on life support is cheaper.

I really want NK to pancake into the dirt, though.

That’s going to hurt. Kim is likely to do something rash.

Coal is 35-40% of North Koreas exports.

This is a sanction measure in cooperation with other nations.

China probably is more than annoyed that Kim bumped off his brother —who was a Chinese protege.

Russia has a huge supply...and they have been working with China for a couple of years.

“Kim is likely to do something rash.”

The intensity of which will be directly proportional to the level of cocaine in Lil Kim’s system.

For both moral and security reasons this is the only answer. China may finally be recognizing that their crazy kid in the basement poses a real danger to their house and continuing to prop up such madness pisses off the whole neighborhood.

Maybe he will stuff his face with even more cheese curds.

Little Kim is one sick puppy, and it is a shame that millions of people have to suffer for it.

Yeah. At least the Ostis had infrastructure, such as it was. What it would cost to bring NK up from the ground is likely to be staggering, and the Chinese aren't going to kick in if they lose their buffer state out of it. At some point the South Koreans are going to have to take the hit but I sure wouldn't look forward to it if I were them.

Nope. Kim Jong-nam. He'd been living in China and they were supporting and protecting him. They took a dim view of Kim Jong-un killing him.

The only people who get fed are the military. If we’re lucky, his next missile will backfire.
