Made me smile, too, when I saw it on the 10:00 Nashville news last night. They were warned and ignored it.
Not necessarily. My husband owns a micro-small business. We had an employee file for unemployment after abandoning the job and working a total of five hours. They gave it to him and jacked up our rates for three years before we could get them to listen to us. New Mexico is corrupt that way.

The unstated reason for this "strike" was to try to hurt businesses in order to make a political point. My guess is that the vast majority of those who participated in the "day off" were actually illegal aliens, but American citizens who are "useful idiots."
The fact that they acted to hurt the business would announce to the employer that these people are not working to further the company's business interests.
